Re: Cultural teaching - some ideas, please
This one hits the nail on the head for me. What is it about Thais that makes them totally oblivious of people around them when walking, driving or riding a motorcycle. Today, it is often the mobile phone which gets the blame but even before the advent of the smart phone and the likes of Line, Watsapp etc. the condition existed.PBbeacher wrote:"Different sense" of spatial awareness, especially on staircases, escalators, doorways, etc

Quite amazing this - I would imagine 50% of responses refer to crazy antics when using the road - especially on motorcycles.

Sending some wrong doer to an inactive post, rather than sacking him / her, or putting their sorry ass in goal.

Dual pricing (discrimination)
Bar girls (as opposed to bar maids)
Junta and the army serving the Government and ultimately the people, rather than the other way around, as here.
Corruption at every level

Boys as young as M1 (11?) being outrageously camp and effeminate (and cross-dressing at school festivals, etc) and becoming the most popular kids in the class and their classmates cheering them on

If you really want some audience participation ....
Delusional thinking that the mental disorder named "the Thai way" actually exists in their culture and is not a primitive, uneducated attempt to deflect responsibility for anything bad away from themselves and on to someone else, preferably a foreigner.

I think the OP was looking for differences, which people are responding to. I don't believe all comments are meant to be complaintsRCer wrote:Wow, 3 of us here have the same question. Native English speakers can generally understand broken (even badly broken) English...but one wrong tone in Thai in an otherwise correct sentence and it all goes right out the window! (that maybe just me!)

In 'normal' Thailand, it's lights out at about 8:30 but everybody is up again by 3:30. Even with jet lag, I can't master that.
