Suggestion: Like Button?
How about adding the option of giving posters a 'Like' sort of a thank you for posting a useful or funny post?
Perhaps a like counter in users profile?
If not a like could be a 'Was this post helpful' button?

Re: Suggestion: Like Button?
I personally don't like the idea of a 'like/dislike' button. Perhaps I'm old-fashioned, but to my mind this is a discussion forum which involves writing something, rather than just a click. I liken it to having a conversation, and if the people I were having a conversation just nodded (clicked) without making any additional comments or suggestions, I'd stop talking. As it stands, if somebody likes or doesn't like what a poster has written they can explain why. If it were changed to a mere click, then I fear people would stop posting (they wouldn't know the reason for the like or dislike, and, therefore, couldn't comment further). I like the forum the way it is.

Yep, I agree - sounds a bit like a "Facebook Virus"....Vital Spark wrote:I personally don't like the idea of a 'like/dislike' button. Re: Suggestion: Like Button?
All those years ago when this forum 1st started there was no such thing as 'Like,-' 'Dislike' options..(Hell there was no smart-phones back then!)..but the OP does have a valid case..look around..many other social forums have adopted this option, & is now a functional part of their site...maybe we need a poll..??

It seems we need a poll so we have converted the OP into one.
Please vote and we will look into options if there is enough demand.

I'm with VS. Besides,we don't need that kind of stat (my ego/thingamajig/whatcamacallit is bigger than yours).
You like it, add a post. You don't like it, put in your tuppence worth.
Another useless button eating up bandwidth. Bah.

Perhaps just old school. The HH forum imo has yet to become that statistically inclined and I hope to never see the day it happens.
I enjoy the banter and rue the day when it is reduced to an anonymous button.

I just downloaded the Tapatalk app and it seems to already have this feature enabled for these forums.

I guess one way is to have a button, but it doesn't activate unless accompanied by a 25 + word comment. Pete

Re: Suggestion: Like Button?
I voted "no "to the question, as those so inclined can do so on the many so called "social media" that caters for such rubbish.
However, on a motoring forum that I use they have a button for thanking a poster for a "useful post". This is intended, and used, when a poster post some information that is of use to other people. It also helps keep away some of the irrelevant junk that can otherwise clog up a forum.
Just my 2 Baht's worth, and it would only probably be used occasionally on this forum!
