Sorry, no speak English - me Thai

Post by buksida »

Don't try to see the new James Bond flick in Hua Hin - it's showing in Thai only, in all three cinemas. But for lazy expatriates who still can't speak Thai, the language barrier is a mere irritant. Ill-advised and xenophobic government education policies that sabotage quality English-language teaching are much more serious for Thai youth in a global economy.

Good article and hits the nail squarely. FYI, Cassino Royale over here is English with Thai sub titles in one place, and the opposite in the other. It is high season, HH cinema owners are not thinking I guess. Pete

Yet oddly enough, they were playing 'The Prestige' in English about 2 weeks ago. It was only for 3-4 days in cinema but I got the chance to watch it.

They really should play more movies in English. I know I'd go every week if they did.
It's a small world after all...

They did ... and you didn't! They stopped showing films in English because there was only 2 / 3 Farangs going each night! (Ok - may be one of them was you Sultry!)
