I don't think you'll be able to buy it ready made, but if you buy a tin of sweetened condensed milk, which is available everywhere, you can very easily caramelise it yourself. There are different ways to do it and loads of instructions on Google. Hope this helps, unless you're in a hurry with your cake.

I simply put the tin in a pan of boiling water and let it gently boil for an hour and a half, then turn off the heat and let it cool and it's ready for use.

As above works very well.
The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist.

Don't forget to pierce the can before boiling or boom it will make a big mess of your ceiling.

Sorry Kendo but you're completely wrong, it will not "explode" as you suggest, all that would happen is that the condensed milk would mix with the water. I've made it dozens of times and never had a problem, all you do is leave the can to cool down, either naturally or by submerging it in cold water, before opening it.kendo wrote:Don't forget to pierce the can before boiling or boom it will make a big mess of your ceiling.

I, too, have made it without piercing the can. Get a gentle boil goingDannie Boy wrote:Sorry Kendo but you're completely wrong, it will not "explode" as you suggest, all that would happen is that the condensed milk would mix with the water. The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.

Well I am suprised at that. I remember when I was a kid and my dad had a tinned syrup sponge explode whilst boiling it, made hell of a mess of the kitchen ceiling.
