I am having a problem with my American brokerage firm. For some reason they, Scottrade, does not want to support expats that live in Thailand, seems as though it's okay to live in China?
Any Americans have an online brokerage account that supports us in Thailand please let me know. I know I can fool them for a while but would rather just find a new company besides, my commissions are ridiculously high for trading options.
thanx

VPN Router solves the problem of where you are... Mailing address is another thing to sort out.... I had Fidelity prior to my move over here, they would not support me living as an Ex-Pat regardless of the country... So I just moved that lump over to my other guy who can support me outside USA... I can also self direct my Merrill Lynch account at BOA, which allows me a bunch of free self directed trades per year, don't know the total number of trades but you could inquire with them... You have to have a certain status with the bank for that privilege... Check them out....

Try Interactive Brokers. Lowest commissions I am aware of. I trade from Thailand but I also have a U.S address.
I had an Ameritrade account and even with a U.S address they wouldn't let me trade from Thailand. Screw them.

thanx guys Merrill is out of my league but I sent an inquiry to Interactive Brokers. my problem seems to be having online trading and getting a bank account with the same firm.
