Anyone got a secondhand guitar that they want to sell?
Something like a Yamaha APX would ideal but willing to consider others, including solids.
secondhand guitars
There are a few guitar shops in Hua Hin, whether you find one that suits you here or not I can’t promise. There are two such shops on the road that runs along the railway, after Chomsin road railway crossing and back towards the night market.
I found my guitar in Bangkok, actually on the ground floor in Panthip Plazza. I had been looking for a long time, and came across this shop by accident. They have many well known makes, Yamaha, Takamine, Fender etc.. but the nice thing was you could try out all the guitars with no hassle, and find one that ‘fitted’ you both for action and sound. Always been happy with my choice, but still not as good as the Fender 50th Anniversary, Gibson Studio or Gibson Epiphone acoustic I’ve left in storage in England.

Tried the HH shops but overpriced, apx500 should be about 12000, asking 18000 in HH or 15000 for a damaged one. So:
Anyone know the name of the area in Bangkok where all the music shops are, it's about four streets near to but not in Chinatown. Everyone seems to know it's there but no one seems to know where it is, including the Bangkok taxi drivers I've asked.

I'm not sure if it is the area you are thinking of, but I have been to the following and might do the trick (copied from amazing-thailand.com):
Lang Krasuang Market
Facing Klong Lot, on Atsadang Road, between the Royal Hotel and Ministry of Interior, a row of shop houses sell moderately priced second-hand goods, including antique cameras and typewriters, musical instruments, radios and all manner of electrical goods. Bargaining is essential.
The Royal Hotel is not far from Khao San Road and I would think most taxi drivers would know it. I was told this area was called the Thieves Market but apparently (according to the same website) that is very near Chinatown, so I'll give you that as well:
Woeng Nakhon Kasem
Better known as Thieves Market, located between Yaowarat Road and New Road, near Phahurat, this area sells antiques, including Thai and Chinese objects d’art, porcelain, brassware, copperware and furniture inlaid with mother-of-pearl. Bargaining is essential.
I hope that helps.
