I support what you say above, its optomistic, but why shouldn't it be?

With regard to the US condemming the Coup, this is obvious, the US flavour of the month is to use military to bring 'other' governments.

Here's an interesting thought.... How beneficial would a Coup be in the USA these days?

I'll keep ducking while I wait for replies to that question!

Winkie, they don't need a military coup in USA, they are already run by the military-industrial complex

while I was here in Thailand for four years (during my Stamford Unoversty years, sorry to bring that up again) I had seen the Economic growth which Thailand has duirng theses years. I think the Coup was right to the political consequenses play out would be a desaster. Remember A staunch Opponent of mr. Thaksin was the Peoples Alliance for Demcracy in short PAD wanted to Organise a Amajor demanstationto urge Mr. Thaksin not to come back to Thailand. On the same day a counter demonstarion was planned by Thaksin supporters. and to see these two factions clash is not a pretty picture. I guess the Coup leaders knew that and done the right thing
In my opinion the CDR and public Prosecutors just want to untangel the Mess and Coruuption Allegations against the former Prime Minister and his Cabinet has done before declaring New elections. Now we all have to expaect a slower more predictable type of reforms in the comming years. unlike break nechk reforms Thaksin style we had seen in the past. It's gonna be good old conservative style of refoms like the years when the Democratic Party if Thailand run the Governemt!!!
