Re: Kaeng Krachan racing circuit
Eventually stumbled upon the race-track during a bike run to K.K. national park with the Mrs.
Really easy to find if utilising Petchkasem road, simply enter 'Kaeng Krachan Circuit Kaeng Krachan Phetchaburi Thailand' into Google maps and you will be directed straight there. We took the bikers back-entrance ( ) via the Pa La-U road and hence the use of 'stumbled'.... but I'm sure it wouldn't be so easy to find on a bike with no expert navigator on pillion.
Here are the Google Map screen-shots and I'll post some pics after.

Any pics of the actual track? Do you know if they offer open days when you can take the bike on and have a rip?

The initial plan was to get up early and nip up to the circuit for a few quiet laps as we were told bikes were only allowed A.M. (cars P.M.). As per the sign below - Bikes 09:00 - 13:00, cars 13:00 - 17:00. So you have to be up and away from H.H. pretty early if you want to take advantage of the four hours track time.
Well the whole getting up early part proved the biggest challenge of the day which is usually the case in sleepy hollow after indulging the previous night. So not to waste the rest of the day we set off late and decided just to have a late lunch up near K.K. dam.
Great little run up via Pa La-U with little wrong turning however the rain came on and became pretty torrential so the going got slow. Fortunately both us were fully geared up so we didn't feel the rain that much it just slowed the bike down due to very cautious cornering and pretty poor visibility at times. Our last visit to the dam took us directly there as we were in convey following the revered 'Gin tonic - no lime'. For some reason we were unable to follow in the mighty footsteps and a wrong turning took us straight past the racing circuit. I had been wanting to check out the track for ages so took the opportunity to pay a visit.
Upon arrival at the entrance gates (closed) the whole facility appeared eerily shut-down apart from a few tough guys sweeping the track. Not to be perturbed we managed to open the gate as the padlock was not engaged and take a closer look. No sign of anyone in the main facilities building so climbed the stairs and took some snaps with the iPhone. Looks like there are VIP booths (air-con!?) you can rent during a track-day - my only observation.
After twenty minutes or so and a bottle of water the weather had really cleared up and we thought it a great idea for Mrs. GN. to try some gear-changes on the Ninja round the car-park. Great idea but she likes to scare the sh*t out of me, on purpose I think. Anyway she did a good job and managed to get up to fourth gear I think before, low and behold the manager/caretaker arrived onsite. Thinking we were in the wrong to be there seen as the place was locked up I feared the worse however we were greeted with big Thai smiles and a warm welcome. I didn't catch the guys name but he offered us use of the track for 1000THB for the remainder the day (because no cars had turned up of course). I almost excitedly agreed as I thought this great value however common sense kicked in (that and a low tank); it just wasn't worth it as it was past three in the afternoon and the missus was getting increasingly grumpy/hungry (is there a Thai word for this that means the same thing? 'Hew'?).
So the Ginjaninja track-day is T.B.C. Can't wait to go back up next week and practice my cornering. Hopefully someone can join me???
My only negatives are the medical facilities... there is a first-aid office on-site but I really doubt they have a trained medic on location during quiet spells. I'll leave the reader to read the obvious on this and form their own opinions regarding common-sense when riding.
Quick photo-stop at the dam followed by a late lunch over looking part of the reservoir (beautiful view with the sun streaming through the clouds) and back down the road we went. Strangely the same storm cloud drenched us on the homeward leg.
I'm not sure if the 1000THB is the normal price but if it is I'm amazed that you can get four hours on a great circuit for this price. Excellent value for money and so close to Hua Hin I am amazed.
Need to get my bloody GoPro working for next week

P.S. Buksida - to answer your question; I imagine it will be quite busy at weekends but if you go early during the week you may even have the track to yourself for a morning. FANTASTIC!

Re: Kaeng Krachan racing circuit
The bloke who appears to run the show told me it was 2000 baht for a car for the four hours.
A fool and his money are soon partying!
