Saint George (ca. 275/281 – 23 April 303) was, according to tradition, a Roman soldier from Syria

It’s none of my business what people say and think of me. I am what I am and do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. It makes life so much easier.

Considering that just a few Saints are shared amongst many Countries, I don't think that their place of birth is an issue! It's what they did with their lives, or probably more accurately, what legend decrees, that enables a Country/movement to adopt such a being to fit with their perceived character, or what that was at the time of adoption, or a series of separate events that took place, as seems the case with St.George.richard wrote:Saint George (ca. 275/281 – 23 April 303) was, according to tradition, a Roman soldier from Syria
And for what its worth, St.Patrick wasn't Irish (and doesn't seem particularly worthy - see above! ) and St. Andrew was born in what is now Israel. Only the Welsh can claim their own (allegedly)!

Thank you - please dont forget to bring your history books with you to support your theories. None of this internet link stuff. Books! That's what this is about. Books, Books, Books.
Oh book-it, I'm off to bed. See you all 3pm.

Looks like I won't be able to make it; sorry. Too much work to do around the house and garden... maybe if someone had taken me up on my "beers for books" deal I would have been tempted to postpone the work but it needs doing.
Enjoy the swap!

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Jesus, if we'd known you were that desperate, hhf, we'd have had a whipround and bought you a box of Chang! Never mind, you get back to work, mate.
I MET THE SARGE! (Still in his red outfit... ) And he looks extremely healthy! Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to chat, as when I turned round, he'd already left. Weird how that keeps happening...

Hey DM, I won't be back in HH until after 20 July. I'd be interested if it's post that date, although I can't remember what books I have - I don't have many.
