Re: Songkran in Hua Hin
I arrived from the airport and walked into hua hin for the 1st time seeing the songkran. I thought it was awesome. Alot of fun. It's only water! The only trouble was when some water was thrown into a bar where people were trying to eat. Understandingly they did not appreciate soggy food. New year in the uk in any major city is carnage without water pistols and buckets. If you dont want to get wet (pussies) dont go!
Re: Songkran in Hua Hin
And still no mention of the alleged gun that was discharged at the foam party at Market Village? I missed the incident (went for a pee!) but my girlfriend said someone ran off after the bang and an ambulance arrived to take away someone injured. The crowd understandably ran for cover. The party certainly all came to an end after that, so I'm guessing it was real and not a fake. Haven't heard or read anything about this incident at all. Anyone else?
Re: Songkran in Hua Hin
Heard a very loud bang in Binta this week and was told (hearsay) that is was a small bomb aimed at a bar by an aggrieved customer. What next?
In past Songkrans I have seen guns pulled by Thai pissed bikers both in HH and Khon Kaen
Party at your peril. When the Laos Khow hits they think they are in the 'wild west' or in a Thais case the 'wild northeast'
TIT. Seen a police vs army shootout in Luknam disco
When the juice flows anything goes

It’s none of my business what people say and think of me. I am what I am and do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. It makes life so much easier.

Can't abide this condescending attitude to tourists. I imagine there is a significantly higher proportion of self-indulgent, under-occupied, viagra-raddled idiots among the expat population than the tourists. And so many expats seem to think that living here for a few years gives them some special insight into the Thai psyche, but most of what I see on here is regurgitated pseudo psycho-babble about 'face' and the like.
Of course, even expats are entitled to an opinion. I just wish they weren't always so convinced they're right.

Well, just a moment here.......
My banter response was merely instigated from your initial 'out the blue' jovial shot. Try not to take things so seriously.- Attachments

Hi DM, it's a Firefox add-on called "Awesome screenshot: Capture and annotate 2.1" and it is very cool and easy to use. Gives you a button on the add-ons toolbar or in the top right of the screen, just press it and takes a screenshot plus gives you a load of options to edit the shot.
Edit - Sorry, forgot to say that you just have to crop the bit of the screenshot you want to use, then edit it as you see fit, after which just 'save as' and it'll go to your downloads/documents or wherever and then you just add as an attachment in the normal way on the posting page through the 'browse' option, if that makes sense.

Can you be any more 'condescending' than that!?dtaai-maai wrote:I imagine there is a significantly higher proportion of self-indulgent, under-occupied, viagra-raddled idiots among the expat population than the tourists.
How can a tourist visit for two weeks and know more than an expat who has been here for years? It's illogical.
I assume you are referring to where I mentioned 'face' as a factor, in the recent incident with the biker being beaten up. The concept of 'face' was well known in Asia, long before the term 'psycho-babble' was coined. If you don't agree, then why not educate, instead of sniping like this?

Bit over-sensitive there, Mr Plum. It probably feels condescending if you happen to be a self-indulgent, under-occupied, viagra-raddled idiot, but I hadn't really thought of you in that category.
No, I wasn't referring to your mention of face - do you really think I stored it up for a rainy day? There are many other posters on this forum, though on some days it doesn't feel like it .
As for educating the less fortunate and improving the minds of the ill-informed, I try to leave that to those who feel they know more.
