The water festival?

So what is going on around here and where does it happen? This section is for discussion on local events, festivals, and holidays as well as activities and things to do.

That's it, get rid of all that rain before I arrive! If I can't have any beer for 2 days, I might as well enjoy the sunshine 8) at least until the real water festivities start.

I see that most of the official activities are due to take place in Queen's Park this year. Can anybody tell me what will be happening on each of the 6 days, and which day(s) it will be best to have a walk around Queen's Park?

Where I can buy a water maschine gun?
They are sold on just about every street corner Michael.
No problems finding them during Songkhran.

Oh my god...

will have to change my schedule as well then
The 19th was a reference to PATTAYA guys. Re: my handle is Naklua therefore I am across the gulf here and was referencing BG's comment about Pattaya/Bangkok...not HH. Your dates there are different I am sure. Pete

I've seen a programme stating it's on in Queen's Park from 10th to 16th - 7 days, not 6 as I said earlier  . Unfortunately the programme does not really say whats on

I got accidentally to Pattaya sometimes in mid 90's for Songkran. Left the next day but as the traffic was moving at the speed that made snails envious, I decided to walk to the bus station from Soi 7. I was ambushed every 0.75 meters and powdered with 'baby mild' as well, sometimes not so gently by some nice folks. It took me about 1,5 hours to walk to the bus station (compared to the 3,5 it would have taken by baht bus). Fortunately I had purchased some garments and put them into plastic bag so I could were some dry clothes before getting into the bus. Songkran in Pattaya - never again.

I've been doing some scouting BG these past 2 weeks as have a friend in town staying in the beach road area. Been all around soi 7 and adjoining, both sides of second road and what I see are the faces of the the same expats who frequent the same beer bars everyday. The throng of strangers who were here during high season has vanished. Perhaps we'll have a more sane Songkran this year, I can hope, However, I've been told that many young guys schedule their yearly holidays just to arrive in Pattaya at Songkram to raise hell as they know they'll get away with most of it during that time. Sad if true. Pete

Pattaya is the very worst place for songkran.
Fat, drunk, aggressive louts acting out Rambo fantasies for an entire week.
Avoid Pattaya.
