There are many posts on this, even did one myself but can't find it, but what the hell I will do another.

I am doing this mainly because of the great service I have had from BUPA and in particular from a wonderful lady called Nong at the HH office.

I took out a minimum policy shortly after I came to HH over 3 years ago and found I had to use it when my health problems started. By this time BUPA had opened an office out bu the airport and we went there and met Kun Nong (excellant english). Clarified what I could and couldnt claim.

BUPA has arrangements with some hospitals whereby the hospital puts in a claim and can get confirmation of payment immediatly so you dont have to pay, this was the case with Petcharat where I had tests done but where I was treated had no such arrangement and I had to pay then put in a claim. My claims went to the BKK office and were all payed back into my bank account usually within a week

Even though we were now dealing with the BKK office Kun Nong would call us regularly asking if everything was Ok and to call her any time if we had a problem. Service beyond the call of duty.

I have now been paid out the maxamum under my policy with no problems and am very thankful I took out the policy.

My plight and that of Don and now Guess shows how important insurance is in this or any country particularly in people of out age group, I read of self insurance but I figure it will take me 15 years of paying premiums for the company to get their money back so I will be renewing each year when it falls due.

I checked with them and the only problem with BUPA Thailand is that you cannot transfer from BUPA International or BUPA elsewhere and have all your pre-existing problems taken into account. This may seem strange, particularly as it is supposed to be the same Company at the top, but my International policy is actually covered by the Oman Insurance Company, not BUPA, as I was in Dubai for a few years and have to deal through a third party.
