Staker on The Highway

I would like to hear from anyone with a similar experience or can anyone shed light on the reasons behind mine.
Last Wednesday at about 3 pm the 31st me and the Wife, 3month old son, my 5 year old stepdaughter and our Nanny were in our car heading down the highway from Sara Buri towards Bangkok for the Countdown and once we had cleared the mayhem that was caused by traffic going North for the new year we were on the open road where all lanes of traffic were open to us as normal. I was cursing along at about 80 – 120 k when I spotted a pillar box red old style 90s BMW behind me. Nothing unusual in that but then I continued and done a few lane changes as you do to keep the speed I was doing consistent and keeping in the middle lane. Then I slowed down to about 60 k and went up to 80 k and changed a few lanes again and I noticed the BMW was still behind and from the first time I spotted him was about 15 minutes earlier, So I sped up to about 110 – 120 k and tried to shake him but he was still there and in the lane directly behind me. By now I was starting to think what’s this joker up to so I continued and done a few more lane changes and slowed right down to give him every opportunity to pass me but he didn’t so I though that’s it, something going on here so I headed for the next petrol station which was Galtex which I never use, so I went into the slip road that runs parallel to us and went on to the station and you guessed it he was still behind me. So I drove in and pulled up and stopped the car and he continued on the slip road passed the station and I thought grand that’s him gone because he was starting to freak me out. I then told the Wife why I’d stopped as she was on the telephone the whole this car started to follow us.
So after a few minutes stop of we went again and drove down the slip road to rejoin the highway and about 1 kilometer down on the slip road there was the guy again stopped on the side of the road and had his driver door open and was sitting with his legs out the doors. We got a really good look at him. He was Thai in his late 40s early 50s short beer belly and a little comb over going on and was wearing sunglasses. He was on his own we could easily see that. So I drove on and sure enough he got back into his car and gave chase. This time I got back into the middle lane and continued at my usual speed of an average 100 K and in 3-5 he was behind us again. By now the Wife and the Nanny and me was getting a little worried to say the least. So I done a few more lane changes and looked out for the next station and had to wait a while till one came up. So in again we went and again he went by, I pulled up got out of the car and ran out onto the road to see if he pulled over again by could not see him so went back into the station and had a half an hour break. When we resumed our journey we were straight into a load of turnoffs for Bangkok which changed our route and we never saw him again.
I was wondering what this guy was up to and was he bored or trying to wind me up and I had thought he might have being police but in a car like that one don’t think so it stuck out like a sore thumb. I thought at first it might be kids messing and wanting to race me that was the reason I slowed down and tried to make him pass me by. I wondered as I have a sticker on the back of the car saying Baby inside that in some perverted way he thought he could scare me. Either way I was scared so if anyone has similar experiences or can share some light on this clowns reasons for this? Please enlighten me

My first ever time in Thailand, We got picked up from Bangkok in a minibus and headed for Hua Hin, There was quite a pimped up truck with blacked out windows that followed us for quite a distance, changing lanes and stayed behind us, flashing lights, pulling up beside us, I got worried as it was quite clear we were just in the country with all the cases in the back visable, everone full of money, I know the driver was concious of this as he was on the phone talking to someone, keeping an eye in the mirror.

The truck was with us for some time, Maybe when he thought we werent going to pull over he gave up, It was quite worrying at the time, First time abroad, Not a clue where i was or where we were going.

Has this happened before, All in we probably had about £4k on us + whatever we had luggage wise so worth holding us up.

When I first came to Thailand back in the early 80s, I was told that driving from Bangkok to Pattaya was an iffy proposition as there had been highway robberies along the way!

A possible car-jacking attempt.

A favourite one I've been told of is the 'decoy and snatch'. One car (the Decoy) annoys you into pulling over to the hard-shoulder (following, tail-gating etc) and attempts to get you out of your car to confront him. As you do so he stays in his car and drives slowly away. Hoping that you chase the car on foot a-ways (and have left the keys in the cars ignition). A second car (The Snatch) with two people scream up alongside your vacant car and one gets out and steals it before you can get back to it.
This nearly happened to a bloke I know on Nissan Skyline Forums and he described the 'trick' in detail.
This, only really works you're on your own though as otherwise it becomes kidnapping for the car-jackers.
So what this Stalker wanted is a mystery as you were with others and you weren't in a performance car...

Reminds me of a while ago when 'er indoors and I were in Indonesia. Tried to get a cab from airport to place we were heading and all drivers insisted on an armed excort in the car with us
