As far as I knew the only way in Thailand to get a notarization valid in the US is at the embassy. That's $50 and a round trip to Bangkok.
Last year Virginia allowed notaries to work online. Reciprocal agreements means other states accept it, though not for all things. www.notarize.com has links to the relevant statutes for each state.
Cost $25, took about 10 minutes. They're open 24/7. BTW, besides showing a government issued ID, they verify your identity with questions gathered from public sources. All mine were based on former addresses.
