As and when/if it does reopen you do not have to pay the 900 Bt if you drive. Just have the cars documents and a driving licence( I have a Thai one so do not know about others) and pay 100 Bt for a pass at the office across the road from the immigration checkpoint and drive across.

I was never able to obtain the 100 baht permit with a rental car ("Pie mai dai!"). However, these rules seem to change daily. I'll keep trying.

Eh? why would you use Cambodia as a visa run point if you are in Hua Hin anyway?? It's the other side of Thailand! :?

It's obviously meant to be Ranong.

Is there any news about re-opening Phu Nam Rong border crossing for visa-stamps..?
The last post on this thread was in September, now we've tipped into Nov. I was just wondering if it was all still a big no-no regarding anyone wishing to get their 90-day 'stamp'..?
OK I do not need a visa-run till mid Jan..is Ranong still 'trading' as normal..??

Just wondering if anyone knows what the status of this is right now. I entered Thailand with a non-immigrant type 'O'-1 year multiple entry. I will have been in the country for 90 days around the middle of February so I need to put a plan together soon. I live in Hua Hin. I have a car.
If anyone could help me with some of these questions I would be most thankful:
What companies if any are still organizing visa runs out of Hua Hin? If these companies are still active? Contact information or location of these companies? Whether or not the border is opened at this time for visa run (I've heard that the border was closed at some point)? If doing the visa run by car is an option?
Any information would be appreciated. There is a lot of outdated information and I'm not really sure what the current situation is out there.

Hi
I did a Visa Run on February 2nd. They will accept those that have Visas already.
if you do not have a Visa, and you are trying to do the gain another 30 ot 15 day Visa exemption status, they will not accept that at Ban Phu Nam Ron.

Paul406..Good to hear you got your visa-stamp OK, & others please note that Paul here has summed-up the present visa status in a nutshell.. :thumb:

Cabba...Yes there's a company doing Visa-Runs to PNR..they are based on the ground floor shopping area at the front of the Condo Chain apartment block almost opposite the Southern Bus Station. Price is abour 3.200B.(inc 910B visa fee).
However..IF you would like to drive there I can give you one of my detailed 'idiot maps'..which will get you there & back hassle free along quiet roads..2 of us did the drive at a steady 80-90kph in my pick-up & we used about 1500B of fuel.
(4 hrs drive there..that includes a half hr coffee break en-route)
The biggest tip to anyone going there is not to arrive before say 12.30/1.00...afernoons are very quiet with minimal queues

Hi guys!

I'm new to this whole visa run thing. Here's my situation:

I have one of these new 6 month multiple entry visas which gives you 60 days when entering. On April 6th, the first 60 days are running out and I'm supposed to leave Thailand.

Now in order to obtain another 60 days, will a visa run to Ranong suffice or do I have to fly from BKK to another country and re-enter that way?

Hope somebody can shed some light on this.

Many thanks,
Ric

Ranong will be fine - any border crossing will do. Phu Nam Ron (near Kanchanaburi) is closer to HH.

I don't have the answer to your question but just so you're aware; you can, if you choose, go to immigration and extend the current stay for a period of 30 days. The fee is 1,900bt.

Thanks for the hint. Since I need to stay approx. 45 more days in Thailand I prefer to do a visa run and get 60 more days.
