Immigration to introduce 90 day reporting online

Post by buksida »

Looks like they're trying to roll this out which would be great if it actually works ...

Anyone tried it?

A bit slow, but it looks good so far. However, I hate to think how slow it will get if things aren't improved, and people start using it big time.

I got the Internet Explorer message too when trying to enter through Firefox then tried to enter via Internet Explorer. Won't come up. GREAT idea but appears not ready for Prime Time yet.

Just installed latest version of Internet Explorer (which I never use) and got into the site. It is very slow to do anything. A minute or two between screens. This surely won't work when everyone starts using it. Hope they get it sped up so I can avoid the 90 km trip to Immigration down here in Khanom.

Need to read the instructions carefully, as it apears that it is only acceptable from day 15 to day 7 BEFORE the due date.
• Applicants can submit this online application within 15 days and not less than 7 days before the due date of notification. ( see example )
They also make much of "aliens" in Bangkok. So does it apply to where ever your records are? :?
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!

It's obviously still under development. When I first looked at the code yesterday morning, I couldn't see anything that would prevent other browsers from working. In fact, there was some code that was specific to certain browsers and the comments even mentioned Safari 3.1.1, which was current several years ago.

By yesterday evening, they had added a single line of code

Code: Select all

window.close();
to their browser check function, which closes the window if the user agent is not MSIE.

I tried spoofing the user agent under Safari which enabled me to get past that point.

I haven't tried entering any data as I just did a 90 day report in person.

Interesting for those who have to travel a long dist. to the immigr. office.
Not interesting if you have to do it 7 days before, waiting for 7 days and then print the document.
And if you don't have a printer ????

Tried it today - waste of time.
For further information regarding the 90 day notification report service, please contact the immigration branch office in your residence area.

Online 90-day reporting for foreigners takes effect

Foreign citizens staying in Thailand are able to report their address every 90 days online via the Immigration Bureau's website, effective from April, the immigration spokesman said on Thursday.

Col Worawat Amornwiwat said the new service aimed to provide improved convenience for foreigners staying in Thailand, and prepare for regional integration under the Asean Economic Community (AEC).

Foreigners can make their 90-day report by filling in a notification form at http://extranet.immigration.go.th/pibic ... 7Action.do or through the usual portal entry at www.immigration.go.th. The service currently requires the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser. The bureau hopes to make it compatible with other popular browsers later.

Foreigners staying in Thailand on long-term visas are required to report to the Immigration Bureau every 90 days to confirm their residential address.

Until now this has usually required travelling to an immigration office to file a form, or authorising another person to do it, or filing the notification by registered post or EMS before the deadline with a stamped and addressed return envelope for the confirmation docket.

711 now to offer new service

BANGKOK:-- A spokesperson for the Immigration Bureau has announced that from today, foreigners will be able to complete their 90 day report at any 7-Eleven outlet in Thailand.

This follows the recent announcement from Immigration that foreigners can also now complete their 90 day report online.

Speaking at the launch event held at the immigration offices in Chaengwattana, Bangkok, Immigration chief Pol Col Somchai Wittiporn said: “this new service is being launched in preparation to Thailand’s integration with the ASEAN community”.

“We also want to make it easier for the aliens who stay in Thailand for a long time”.

“We know that many foreigners like to buy their cheap beer and bread and also collect the stamps from 7-Eleven, so it was our idea that they can also do their 90 day reporting when they visit their favourite store”.

Pol Col Somchai explained that in order to complete their 90 day report at 7-Eleven, foreigners will need to hand their passport, 4 passport photos and the TM47 form to 7-Eleven staff who will then scan the relevant information into the new system.

Pol Col Somchai also confirmed that due to some minor technical issues 7-Eleven staff are currently unable to issue a confirmation receipt for any 90 day report completed in store.

However, whilst the problem is being rectified and as a gesture of goodwill, Pol Col Somchai has instructed staff to issue any foreigner who completes their day 90 report at 7-Eleven during the month of April with twenty complimentary 7-Eleven stamps courtesy of the Immigration Bureau.
