Visa runs made easier

I have been told by a reliable source the the Singkon pass Boarder will be open in Oct, traveling time from Hua Hin to the Boarder crossing approx
1.5 hours, if anybody needs directions e-mail me for a map, or contact the immigration office below.

This sounds interesting, especially for those of us like me who might be contemplating residence in HH in the future. However, I believe that in the past this crossing was restricted to Thais and Burmese only, and that other expats could not exit and re-entry there. Any more news on this aspect?
