Hi Mat

Out of interest, what is the Hua Hin International Expat Club? I've looked online but can't seem to find anything. I'll be coming to see you sometime soon anyway, but if I can benefit from club membership then I'd like to look into it. I'll also be bringing one, maybe two other guys with me who are both wanting to get insured. :D

The thing that puts me off is the reference to a 2,000 US$ excess for every illness/accident

Actually the Hua Hin International Expat Club is administered at our Office so becoming a member is easy :-).
The main reason for the start of this Expat Club was to become Discounts for Group Members of Suppliers.

Healthcare International has several different plans. The Emergency Plan (described above) does indeed know a standard excess, hence the low premiums. At other Plans it is optional so without any excess is possible.
In general:
Taking out an excess can be a good way to lower the Premium. Most Companies know an Annual excess, the above described HCI plan an excess per accident/illness. Which method is better is hard to say. If you have 2 or more events in one Policy Year, an annual one would be best. If you have an illness that requires long time treatment (like chemo therapy) an excess per illness will be better.
Anyhow, since we work with many Companies, plenty of options available without any excess.

Not sure where to post this:
Trying to tidy up some insurance policies today and sent an email to Matt at AA Brokers. Everybody else may be aware of this, but I was'nt, and that is that Matt has retired and moved back to the Nederlands.

Message that I received back states that it is still the same team, but that is hardly true if Matt has gone!

He was obviously very good at his job, but for the past few years I’ve had less and less contact with Matt and normally dealt with one of the other members of staff - hopefully the same high quality service will continue.

I've always had good contact, and fast responses, from Jenny there.

Maybe! A couple of years ago I was trying set car insurance for 2 cars with another of his staff. After stuffing me around without any result, she sent me an email saying: "you can try another broker"!

I forwarded the email to Matt, and he was horrified! He offered me 1,500 baht compensation over it.
I told him to put it towards traning his staff.

There was aso a Dutch woman there that was very good, Jenny, or the Dutch equivalent name, whom took over my account.

I currently only have house insurance with them and I don’t think the premium has changed in years and the renewal process is simple - email received advising new policy details, premium paid, new policy received, all done in about 2 weeks.
