Shirtless and Topless Farangs
Shirtless and Topless Farangs
What's with the shirtless men walking around town and the topless female sunbathers?
Is there a reason Farangs completely ignore rules when they visit foreign countries?

what i have never seen. a farang man with a tight, flab-free, well toned upper body, walking around without a shirt.
Re: Shirtless and Topless Farangs
Reminds me of a time some years ago. I was sat outside "The Boat" and a young blonde walked by in just a bikini. Very nice 'eye-candy'. All conversation stopped and a dozen pairs of eyes followed her up the road till she disappeared. The silence was broken by someone saying "That's bloody disgraceful!!!"
Re: Shirtless and Topless Farangs
That would've been exactly the sentiments of those that eyed her...just coz she didn't stay back for a drink

Remember, no one can make you feel inferior without your consent.

Are you the farang police? With all that goes on in this country you concern yourself with that. What rules? Where are these rules? Are you British by any chance?RCer wrote:What's with the shirtless men walking around town and the topless female sunbathers?

How many Thai's do you see doing it? One should be able to get a clue from paying attention to what locals do.Deep Blue wrote:Are you the farang police? As for the rules, I was informed of them in 2006 the first time I came to Thailand. I tend to check such things when traveling outside the US. Its called courtesy.
Re: Shirtless and Topless Farangs
Why would I care if Thais do or don't, I'm not trying to be a Thai - Thais are not schooled in Western values of personal freedom, unfortunately for them. Maybe there's a liberating effect on them, I hope so, I despise their censorship.RCer wrote:How many Thai's do you see doing it? It isn't 'censorship' - just a cultural norm. It is considered disrespectful to walk the streets without a shirt, just as it is disrespectful to enter a temple wearing a vest top. No one is asking farang to be like Thais, simply to accept their ways without offending them.

He is the classic troll.
Just put "it" in the ignore list and hopefully he will go away.

Their censorship of movies, the internet and news sources. America was once like this, in the 1930s beach areas had police with rulers measuring women’s bathing suits. Should I change or should Thais adapt, who should be more grateful, I pay every year to a Thai bank that helps their country, what exactly do I get?margaretcarnes wrote:Deep Blue wrote:RCer wrote:

Those are religious and private spaces, not public places - an appeal to extremes fallacy.oakdale160 wrote:its like taking off your shoes before or when entering their homes--easy for canadians we do that back home. Its not a 'rule' it is just good manners.
