Centipedes in the House.

Post by Green Nomad »

Hi,

We're increasingly finding these little centipedes in our house, mostly I find them on the floor of the shower. We have a recessed ceiling light above and I feel they are falling in through the hole around that. They're all around 2 to 3 cm long, thankfully, and tend to 'drown' in the water on the wet floor. Obviously we don't want Mum or Dad getting in.

Has anyone else had these in their house in numbers, or indeed been invaded by the more dangerous larger specimens?, and what can be used to prevent this. GN

Even at small size they hurt a lot. You have a nest close by. Any of the pest control companies will spray and deter them.

I had never had them in my room until about a month ago and found the first one in the shower area. A week or so later a second in the same place. Today sumbitch #3 showed up although outside of the house in among the shoes. All similar size as described by the OP.

I stomp them and let Buddha sort it out.

Get a can of 'Chaindrite' termite crack and crevice spray and do the skirting in the whole house. Do this every couple of months for peace of mind. I inadvertently flushed out a grandaddy(!!) and wasn't expecting it. They're probably coming in through the drainage grating.

Chaindrite is among the insect sprays in supermarkets.

Can't resist and no offense.

If you manage to pair a centipede with a parrot you will sooner or later get a walkie-talkie.
Then make a "call" and tell them to ... ;-)

they're probably millipedes and poison.
ours came up through the shower drain until we covered it with a plastic lid and rock.
