Poor School Kids need our help

Post by wmq »

In the middle of Thailand, 35 km West of Hua Hin in the direction of Pala-U near the border of Myanmar is a small country school in the village of Lamoa. This primary school is for the farmer families working on the pineapple fields for a minimal 300 baht, in reality, 200 baht per day (less than 10 USD). My wife is a teacher in this school and often tells me about the living situation of her students which are all in grade 3 (11 years old). Some live under conditions which would be unbearable for us.
One of the school kids from Lamoa is Tik her full name is Amornrat Khiochoei.
Tik lives in a shabby hut with her blind grandmother and has only limited food. Her mother  passed away some time ago and her father is working on a farm when not sick for usually 200 baht a day.
Tik is a very good student and a sweet girl, she is polite in the old Thai tradition and very different from what we are used to seeing in the Western world.
We cannot change the world but we can change the fate and improve the future for some kids like Tik living in very difficult situations.
Thailand is well known for corruption and we got numerous warnings where donations end up. We assure you that these donations will end up with the person in need.
First we talked about using the person’s personal account, then a school account but both would be out of our control. We decided to use a free account at the Kasikorn Bank nicknamed “DONATION”.
Thai Kasikorn Bank: 109-2-17955-7 Bic/Swift: KASITHBK
In Thailand you can deduct twice the amount you have donated from your pre-tax income and the Lamoa school can provide you with a certificate.

Actually the school have two semesters a year. So it would be nice to donate money and stuffs to the kids or school like once or twice a year. I used to be the volunteer in Thailand many times and figured out that giving them one vast amount is not a good idea. Some group they sponsor each poor children for tuition and expense per semester and the children kept updating them for the progress of their study.
