No, the mess is unnecessary, and I would complain wherever I was in the world.JamesWest wrote:I wish everyone would stop complaining and trying to change Thailand. If you don't like it please don't come here. It will be a sad day when all the unique culture, fun and freedom is gone. If you don't like the wild west, stay out of Dodge.

To be fair, BB, I should clarify that that is JamesWest's 'signature' - he wasn't referring to the waste situation, in fact he was complaining about it!
This is the way

I'm glad you pointed that out, I was getting a bit worried about someone who considered fly tipping to be "unique culture, fun and freedom"!dtaai-maai wrote:To be fair, BB, I should clarify that that is JamesWest's 'signature' - he wasn't referring to the waste situation, in fact he was complaining about it!

I've always put larger items, cardboard boxes included, next to the bin in the soi. I find somehow they've disappeared in less than half an hour! One man's rubbish is another man's gold!

Quite right ! I do the same with the same result, even in my own country.HHTel wrote:I've always put larger items, cardboard boxes included, next to the bin in the soi. I find somehow they've disappeared in less than half an hour! One man's rubbish is another man's gold!
Re: Fly Tipping (Illegal Dumping of Waste Materiels)
I was told some time ago that there is a tip quite close to a golf course north of town , not sure exactly but not far out of town.
There are skips at various places i know of two near my place in Khao Noi. not large skips but maybe 1.2 x1.2m square.
On the tree waste they often dump it on land near us and them have a big fire, there was some massive tree stumps on there at the beginning of the year.
Ive found cardboard, plastic and glass bottles and cans if we leave them in a bag at the gate they have always gone in an hour or two.
for other stuff the gardener aways will take away guess it gets sold somewhere.

The gardeners normally take the bottles and cans etc but with the rain I stored it in the outside cupboard for about a month. Took it to the nearest rag and bone man outfit and they gave me enough for a box of wine and 4 beers 10 Bt per kilo on the plastic which is more than you get for steel

We always save our recyclables, and phone the recycle people every few weeks. They come and buy it off of us. Proceeds always go to our grand children. It's always worth a couple of hundred baht to them.
