I don't remember him writing anything like that when Abhisits dodgy paid-for coalition was in power. Wasn't it allegedly something like 50 million baht for certain MP's?The fact is, Pheu Thai did not even win a majority of the overall vote. But for the sake of discussion, we shall continue to use the term majority. We shall leave coalition partners out of this, because they will go wherever the money is. Political conviction has nothing to do with it.

Excellent analysis of theoretical and practical democracy and non-democracy.
http://m.bangkokpost.com/topstories/383347if using democracy as the measurement to judge mankind’s struggle you would probably be correct in saying this is democratic, or that is undemocratic; however, it doesn’t help you to understand the reality of what’s going on. In short, you would be theoretically correct, but specifically clueless.

Re: Voranai another good article
I had the pleasure to meet Khun Voranai 2 weeks ago.
He was guest speaker at a private function I went to. He spoke for about hour (talking about the history of Thailand, that leads us to today's conflicts, very interesting and very logical), and then joined us for dinner, where we had a long time to chat privately.
A very smart 40 year old, who finished his education in Texas before returning to Thailand.
Although I could not see any, I truly suspect he has one or 2 reasons to be looking over his shoulder.
Very nice guy, very enjoyable evening

Actually, I'm not sure that in this article, he's provided much more of an insight to what is already understood?
Neatly summed up in the article as:
"The goal of Suthep is to replace the new group of oligarchs with the old group of oligarchs. Which oligarchy is better than the other?"
With the exception of the military, the rest are mere pawns.

Re: Voranai another good article
Once again, Vorani writes an article which sounds like common sense, but knowing that the majority of Thais (especially those from the more rural areas) cannot read English, does anybody know whether his articles are published in Thai?HHADFan wrote:Today's offering: http://www.bangkokpost.com/opinion/opin ... i-vanijaka

I found his facebook page and asked him, and he said, "Sorry, no, they're only in English."Dannie Boy wrote:Once again, Vorani writes an article which sounds like common sense, but knowing that the majority of Thais (especially those from the more rural areas) cannot read English, does anybody know whether his articles are published in Thai?HHADFan wrote:Today's offering: http://www.bangkokpost.com/opinion/opin ... i-vanijaka
It's really kind of a loss for Thailand - one of its sanest commentators is publishing in a language that maybe ten percent of Thais read well enough to understand his columns.

Agreed. May the old way die out sooner rather than later, just can't see it happening yet (as he say's).
