How many can you get on a moped?

Post by JD »

I have often seen 4 on a bike, almost daily around most schools.

I have seen 5 on a bike twice now, once was 1 adult and 4 kids, another was 2 adults and 3 kids.

Today that was bettered by 2 adults, 3 kids and two small dogs in the basket.

I've heard people say they have seen six on a bike but not seen it myself.

Are there no laws regarding this in Thailand?

Can anyone better my record sighting?

Your sighting takes the buscuit as far as I'm concerned.
I'm sure there must be laws against it, but as normal the police simply don't enforce them.
Looking at it slightly the other way around, there's possibly no option other than Mum or Dad takes all the kids to school balanced precariously on the bike. They don't have cars, can't afford helmets and it's possible that the school cattle wagon dosn't drop the kids off close enough to home.
The police will turn a blind eye, because the kids must get to school somehow?
Just a thought.

Six is my record. Song Poo Ying carrying infants. The driver, and some tart glued to the back seat.

BTW if myself and my wife get on a M/C the springs tell us that there is no capacity for anybody else.

FAT FAMILIES RULE OK.
