Talking of fending off old gits, VS, I have only one word for you.

Fair enough WL and VS, might have been a bit tight, no offence meant. Just one of those mornings. Didn't edit because I think it's a bit spineless unless you're doing for spelling etc. Better to listen to what people say. My cynicism getting the better of me.

Where i live is a small group of towns known as the Waterside, on the New Forest side of Southampton i have lived here most of my life and i am very well known in the local community especially around the pubs. :D

Three years ago when i told friends and family that my Thai girl friend was coming to the U.K on a fiance visa and we where going to get married, everyone's first qestion was how old is she, i would have loved to take a pint off everyone that asked me that qestion my answer to that is i am 4 months older than my wife and she is 35.
The second qestion is how did you meet, the answer to that is in the Hilton disco, just how you would meet someone anywhere in farang land.

I think a lot of people just think trophy wife, not the case, my wife yes, very beautiful and very clever, but she has such a good heart and so much quality's a lot of people say to me that i am a lucky man i can see why you are with her, i allways tell them i was not looking for a relationship i had only just come out of a bad one it just happenend.

My opinion on age difference is, most people don't get past there twenty's without getting a little baggage, if you get devorced or bereaved why shoulden't you have a fair chance, for a second time in your life to find happyness and more than likely it will give you a new lease of life, (as long as you don't take to many Viagra with high blood pressure) and a real sence of perpose that you never thought possible.

I think for all of us that are in genuine relationships with Thai's that you can quickly distinguish the sex pest that just want to get there rocks off with young girls and exploit them.

Finding genuine happyness is not easy, if you have found yours with a Thai that is a lot younger than you, then well done and live life.

Well said Kendo, although we have obviously both married within what some consider to be an acceptable age difference, if they are happy together then there there is no problem with partners having a wide age differential.

My opinion is that maybe a 30 year old marrying a 16 year would probably result in problems because that 16 year is unlikely to be mature enough to know what they really want.

Once a person gets past their mid twenties, they have usually matured. From that point onwards I don't think age makes that much of a difference.

As an example, you would rarely see young lads mixing freely in a bar with the older generation. However, once they hit a certain age, they mix quite naturally in a lot things eg darts and pool.

Friday nights, out on the town, we always used to meet up and start out from the Old Farmhouse on Ringwood Road. Brings back a few memories of my time in that area.

Is that in West Portsmouth ?

I wonder if there are any Thais out there who have a mia noi who is older than their wife

Where is the line from when having a beautiful younger wife goes from giving you kudos in a person's eyes to disapproval in their eyes ?

Guess your best post ever and enjoyed all your answers, all fair comment.
By isthmus i mean the whole area south of BKK,apart from an occasional pimple or waterfall its no great improvement on the mangrove swamps in Warri Nigeria that i did barge work in for 2 years.North is far more attractive but not sensational.Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder but that depends really on where the beholder has been and i am not sure many of the beauty advocates are actually that well travelled.
Anothe plus for you is a statement you made 18 months ago when the dollar was in freefall. You felt the dollar was undervalued,in the short term you were out but in the long term you were spot on.Well all you brit expats may worry about the exchange rate as BOE moves to lower interest rates in the next 15 months you may well see the pound tumble another 10%.Just hope present turmoil in BKK which for me seems to border on Anarchy keeps Baht weak.

Many thanks for the words of praise.

Sorry to be pedantic but you meant peninsular. We do have an Isthmus just south of where I live. It is the narrowest part or waist of the Malay Peninsular.

Personally it is my favorite. There is more than the odd pimple. I don't thinks there is anywhere in the south where you cannot view mountains and in many places from Petchaburi southward there the characteristic vertically faced rocks that are an attraction for climbers. The North has only a glancing attraction for me and only really in the Chiang Mai, Chang Rai provinces. I do like Kanchanaburi which is west central.

Obviously the Brits will worry about the exchange rate. The US guys have bee hit harder and for longer. The US Dollar is now rising against nearly all currencies and the Pound and Euro seem to have flattened for now.

I agree that if it is only beauty you have to consider then there are many places more beautiful in the world. All of Sub Saharan Africa and much of China and the US take some beating.

Its pretty much what I expected, 70% with age gaps between 6 and 25 years, very few within a couple of years of their partner.

I didn't enter the poll as my wife is not thai. But she is 9 years younger than me. When we got together 33 years ago snide comments about our age difference were not common but we did get them, usually from guys. My wife was and is still quite beautiful so I think the comments were mostly from envy.

So I think when you get the snide comments you can look at it as a compliment, they just wish they had what you have. Even though they may not express it well. That does not mean you can't punch them in the mouth if it seems appropriate.

I am quite suprised that i fall in a 5% catogory i thought there would be a few more the same age.

I offen get asked qestions from middle aged men in the pub about having a relationship with a Thai and about being married with colture difference's i allways encorage getting a new lease of life, age difference does not matter, being happy and content with your life does.

My first wife was 15 years older than me. My second was six years younger. My third is 19 years younger.

With that trend, I'm hoping like hell there won't be a fourth.
