Train Trips?

Post by duckhook »

As first time travellers. both myself and my wife fancy a trip on a train. We've pretty much discounted the run down from Bangkok. However we are due to be in Hua Hin for about 10 days. I have found the Thai railways site, but can't find a map showing the route and intermediate stations. Can anybody help?

From Bangkok to Hua Hin the trains (express and rapid) will stop Nakhon Pathom (about 50 km west of BKK), Ratchaburi, Petchaburi (some may stop at Cha Am) and Hua Hin. There are 3-4 stops before the train is out of Bangkok.

train to kanjanaburi

I've always liked the train trip to Kanjanaburi. Leaves Hua Hin at 11.45 daily and takes 3 hours to get to Nong Pla Dook junction. There you swap trains and get on the one bound for Kan from Bangkok. Kanjan has a nice scenic journey across the river Kwae and upto the waterfalls along the valley, very picturesque.

Train Trips?

Thanks for the suggestions. The trip as suggested sounds wonderful, but deserves more than a day trip. I was wondering about somewhere maybe an hour, an hour and a half away, get off, have a little look around, and come back. Thays why I have been trying to find a route map without success.

Ratburi is a good trip about 1 1-2 hours check out the floating market short taxi ride from the station. Chumpon is a good seaside town about the same time scale
