The family at the Kieng Ley Homestay was extremely hospitable and a relaxing afternoon was spent fishing and sinking a few cold ones watching the weather systems ebb and flow over the mainland. The next morning as the other visitors headed off back to Bangkok we had the place to ourselves and wandered around to take in the island life of the few families that call this place home. It is a million miles away from Khao Lak or Hua Hin in ambiance and spirit and marked our sixth different place in as many days on the road.

Very interesting report, how many people actually live on the island?

I'd estimate about a hundred.

Nice piggy!
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I love reading your trip reports, Buksida. They're far more honest than anything you might read on the standard tourism sites. An extremely good insight on where to go (and not go), and your photos are fabulous.
