are you sure? i thought that was the the ferry "terminal". which is just a long road on top of a jetty.

anyway, i bought a condo right at that new pier so i can walk to Pattaya now.

Govt plans Pattaya - Hua Hin/Cha-am ferry link

Post by hhinner »

The project's sign board has nothing about a ferry. The proposed ferry is still going nowhere. There are only press reports and pre feasibility reports from last year and 2014 on the web.

Anyway what size ferry would that little harbour at Khao Takiab accommodate?

I asked the owner of Nam seafood restaurant today, which is right behind the site. She says it is going to have small boats/speed boats that will go to Pattaya, but not ferries as the water isn't deep enough to take anything larger?

Govt plans Pattaya - Hua Hin/Cha-am ferry link

Post by hhinner »

There used to be a privately run ferry between Pattaya and Hua Hin. It died, probably because it was unreliable because the Gulf of Thailand can produce bad weather and high waves that make it too dangerous to cross in a small vessel. There's a thread somewhere in the forum.

Sounds about right to me, I certainly wouldn't fancy the crossing in something unsubstantial that's for sure.

Absolutely spot on. THIS IS NOT A FERRY TERMINAL AND WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE.

^^^^

I agree completely, we always stay just south of monkey mountain, it's quiet, perfect for our family.

I'm just about getting used to the work they're doing now, was not happy when we arrived as it is an eyesore on what was a wonderful view from our hotel.

But the thought of ferries coming in and out or even anything more than the fishing boats would have destroyed the place completed.

^^ That beach started going downhill when the first hotel was built. A ferry port would just finish the job. But there won't be a ferry port there and there was never any consideration to build one.
