Hua Hin to Don Muang and return

Post by hhfarang »

Since Don Muang has become much more active again with most domestic flights and with Air Asia moving there, is there any cheap transport from Hua Hin to that airport? Any buses or minivans that go directly from Hua Hin to the airport without having to change transport in Bangkok? All I've been able to find is a bus or van to the city, then taxi to the airport. My wife will be making many trips alone (to Loei on Nok Air) over the next few months I would prefer a direct (safer) transport from Hua Hin to Don Muang airport without having to pay the cost of a private car.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Doubt it, but Victory monument which is where most of the minibuses go to is the on the way out to DM and in the correct direction. Of course, the correct thing would be to extend the Skytrain out another couple of stops to the Airport. Give them a decade or two and it will be done, I'm sure.

I know it involves a change but I suppose you could get the direct bus from Hua Hin to Suvarnabhumi and then the shuttle bus to Don Muang, at least you wouldn't have to mess about with a taxi.

You could cut the taxi journey quite a bit by getting the BTS from Victory to Mo Chit first. There are minivans that go quite close (Rangsit - as mentioned on another thread viewtopic.php?f=7&t=21900&start=15), though they wouldn't work well if there was much luggage. There is also a bus from Mo Chit BTS station (don't know the number, sorry) and a railway halt opposite the passenger terminal. Quite a few options, most of which will be less convenient than hopping a taxi! Southern bus terminal isn't a real option - further than Victory Monument - about 500baht, instead of a couple of hundred.
Had enough of the trolls. Going to sleep. I may be some time....

Yes, I have seen some minivans near Market village that advertise Hua Hin to Don Muang. Will check it out again and let you know. Steve G's suggestion is about the best option if you don't want to use minivans. viewtopic.php?t=22325

To Bell Travel

Do you have any plans to have a service from Hua Hin to Don Muang?

From Bell Travel
"We didn't provide for this route. I am sorry for this inconvenience.

I recommend you to takes free shuttle bus from Suvarnabhumi airport to Don Muang on level 2 exit 3."

Personally I would rather pay 2500 bht and go door to door, stop for a beer and bite on way. Trying to do it on the cheap justs ends in stress. If you can't afford that amount, you won't enjoy your time in TH! :naughty:

Personally I would too if it was one trip, but...

It's my wife who has to go on her own 2 to 3 times per month for the next 4 to 6 months for personal/family reasons, so no, even if I can afford it, I don't want to pay 5000 baht round trip to the airport plus the rest of all the trips' expenses for possibly as many as 18 trips over 6 months... hence looking for a cheaper yet safe option, and she doesn't drink or even eat much so she wouldn't be interested in a "beer and a bite on way".

... and... I've been in Hua Hin for nine years and enjoyed very little of of my "time in TH!" so if you don't have any constructive answers... Image

That he did, but he also mentioned "are there any bus or minivan services that go direct", so this meets that criteria - but is it safe, well some days yes but not necessarily every day!!

^ Yes, I've considered that but it would mean at least a one night stay in Bangkok because of their late flight times from Hua Hin as the onward flight that my wife needs to take to Loei goes around noon every day.

Off Topic so apologies in advance but really...?
What sort of advertising guru puts a picture of a guy with a bag of horse crap in his hand on any advert other than one where horse crap is the product ?

Back to topic.
