Si Sawat - Kanchanaburi

Post by Bernard »

I've been to Erewan Waterfall and Sai Yok Noi and now want to go a bit further North to Si Sawat. As it is a very big area has anyone got any tips on the best places to visit. I have my own car but it is not an off road vehicle.

I'm looking for good scenery and reasonable accommodation during my 3 day trip. I can stay longer if needs be but am also quite prepared to go back again if it is that good as I visit Kanchanaburi Province a lot.

The dam is well worth a visit, here is a vid of the road leading up to it, loads of nice river resorts along this road too:

Each time I've visited Kanchanaburi I've stayed at a place called Sabai @ Kan. Costs around 1,700 for a superior room in high season. Never been disappointed and the staff are excellent. It's about a 5 min walk to the bridge.

Thanks Sateeb, its looks really nice and there is a special offer if you stay 2 days or more, its 1083 b.
a day plus 17% service and hotel tax.

Only problem is that I can't book now because w have to go to BK first to embasy and thai foreign ministry and amphur and then back in reverse order to get married and we are not sure how many days
it will take and it seems to be a really popular hotel, but will try make a reservation when we know.
Thanks again

I have, these days, dealt directly with the hotel staff rather than Agoda. Like I said they are most accommodating and will help in any way possible. Booking is a breeze, you can pay by funds transfer through internet banking or ATM.

Whenever my family & I stay at K'buri we always use 'Xanadu 2009' resort..it's run by a good-natured Englishman..(Dennis), has nice villas set in a garden area with parking, clean pool , bar & restaurant (great food)..& riverside decking to enjoy your meal on..the place is 9km West from the centre of town..villas are about 1000B/night, but IMO it's nice to be outside the hustle n bustle of town, yet still be on the river-side.

well after two intense days in BK we really needed peace and quiet,so we selected zanadu 2008 that
actually opened in 2009 :thumb:
And quit it was and the food was really good and big portion even if your big time hungry start with
max. two dishes,I had a nice Masaman gai.
There was a tv but you could borrow dvd in the reception as there were no tv channels at the moment.
The owner Dennis was really nice without being overbearing.
Would we go again 100 % if we want to relax but will try the one Buksadi recommended if were in the
party mode.
We didn't see anything as I should renew my visa and go back to BK for one more intense day,I really
hate that city,it's getting on my nerves and get me grumpy

We're going that way soon, and have actually gone with sateeb's recommendation (Thank You :thumb: ), and we're looking forward to it. Unfortunately, I can't see buksida's recommendation. Was it on a different thread?
