Re: AirAsia to fly KL to Hua Hin from May 18
The airport parking lot was extremely busy, double decker bus, many mini vans, songthaw, and several cars.No idea what the number of passengers were who disembarked.
Surprised though that an inaugural flight, after leaving KLIA on time was 20 minutes late touching down .It certainly can not be Air Traffic control problems. It hit the tarmac at 11,20,i wonder after all the celebrations in T.O.M's video what time the return flight departed and landed back in KLIA.
Lets hope that this service will become a viable one,and remain longer than the previous ones.

It actually departed KUL 40 minutes late, and subsequently arrived late in HHQ. It appeared to push back from KLIA2 on time, but for some reason they taxied it out to RW15, it stopped for 10 mins, then they taxied slowly all the way over to RW32R for take off. I believe the delay may have been promotional related.Thistle wrote:The airport parking lot was extremely busy, double decker bus, many mini vans, songthaw, and several cars.No idea what the number of passengers were who disembarked.

Will not argue, but KLIA official departures show it left a few minutes before 10.00am,,,,,,,,,,,and arrived 22 minutes late into HHQ.I have a video of it landing taken from the opposite side of the terminal.

FlightRadar24 screenshots of it departing KUL 10:41. They made up time in flight, plus the turn around in HHQ was quiet snappy. They made up even more time on the return leg.Thistle wrote:Will not argue, but KLIA official departures show it left a few minutes before 10.00am,,,,,,,,,,,and arrived 22 minutes late into HHQ.I have a video of it landing taken from the opposite side of the terminal.
This aircraft then flew KUL to Rayong - it was 46 minutes behind schedule.
I would love to see your videos

Re: AirAsia to fly KL to Hua Hin from May 18
Hi All
flew from Hua Hin to Kl and on to KK.
Hua Hin airport: This was quick and fairly efficient except they would not do our luggage straight through to KK.
the flight was about 80% full. There was system for boarding but this was mostly ignored. Still it was
fairly orderly.
Kl airport : KLIA 2 is not my favorite airport and then we had to collect our luggage and then check in for our
flight to KK.
Organised chaos would be my description of check in at KL for the onward flight. Many questions about
my diving equipment which was purchased as excess sports equip. But eventually arrived at KK
KK Airport: : Quick efficient self check in slight problem with the diving kit but nothing else.
Kl Airport : Same as before organised chaos only difference was I had to check my diving kit in at oversize
baggage desk do not know why.
Flight again 80% full
Hua Hin Airport: On arrival handed immigration form on entry to the airpor, everyone was in the small immigration
area filling them out, the quicker you did this the quicker you were through, faily quick for us
Our luggage was waiting next to a carousel so we picked it up and headed to customs. They just
wanted to check my diving kit after the x-ray machine, maybe for practice, they were very polite
and no problems.
Many taxis waiting but they have a desk inside were you pay and are given a paper ticket.
Obviously a little negotiation required as first price was ridiculous. I explained I live here and the
price dropped dramatically.
Conclusion:
We will definitely use Hua Hin to KL again and hope the numbers stay as high as the 80% we saw. By the way the flights were outward 06/06 and return 17/06.
regards

Anyone know why this route is not running after October? Want to book in early November but no flights.

Re: AirAsia to fly KL to Hua Hin from May 18
Sorry Buksida
nothing mentioned on the flight or in the airports.
I will be sorely disappointed if it stops then.

Are they like UK bucket airlines - release flights on certain dates throughout the year. Zero availability until released.

Re: AirAsia to fly KL to Hua Hin from May 18
I just checked AA Bkk to KK for November and flights are available (1000B return!).
So I think there might be a variety of reasons that details don't show yet. As a new route, they want to be certain it's going to be a profitable before releasing more flights, or at least consider the schedule, if some flights are more popular than others. it might be the period the license has been granted until - at this particular moment in time? Or it might be that they are, as discussed, looking at adding fights to and from elsewhere, which might affect scheduling?

Re: AirAsia to fly KL to Hua Hin from May 18
I flew Air Asia this morning from KL to Hua Hin. The two hour flight was 2 hours late leaving KL. Apologies were given but reasons were not.
The flight was easily 80% full, mostly young travellers and families.
All three passport control desks were open at Hua Hin airport.
Bags arrived very quickly and were put through the scanner after passport control.
There is a taxi counter where a pre-paid ride to Khao Takiab is 500 baht. The drivers would not negotiate. I didn't notice other transport options. Although at the airport entrance there is the local green bus which charges 15 baht for the same ride. I note that:
My local Khao Takiab taxi drivers charge 300 baht to the new bus station which is behind the airport;
The shared minibus from the same bus station to Khao Takiab is 100 baht per person;
The freelance taxi drivers who hang around the bus station ask for 200 baht upwards.
