Cologne isn't a major hub airport so unless you're in the region, it's unlikely to work. I could get there by train from Luxembourg so it might be doable from there if it was really cheap.Big Boy wrote:Just tried it on my son's forthcoming journey to compare prices. Cost is about the same, but outbound he'd be dumped in that Northern wilderness of Manchester, and would have to depart on the inbound journey from Stanstead - not for us I'm afraid.

Re: Flight to Thailand bargains
This may be the wrong place to ask but no other thread seems suitable........... I'm off to UK to see family for a couple of weeks soon and came across Malaysia Airlines doing some good prices Bangkok to Heathrow, change aircraft in Kuala Lumpar but you're only on the ground for 90 minutes.
Has anyone flown with them and offer any opinions.
Thanks in advance

Have flown with Malaysian Airlines in the past and would do so again. I do not have any specific good or bad memories of the flights and if the price was good would not hesitate to use them.
Re: Flight to Thailand bargains
Thanks for that Gregjam, I think I will give them a chance..............under 30k baht return Swampy/Heathrow
Re: Flight to Thailand bargains
That's not a good price. There's currently a deal with Oman air to Zurich (BKK-ZRH) - $479 return. You can then do ZRH-LTN return with low-cost for around $100. That's 20.5K baht.
You can also fly Norwegian (BKK-OSL or BKK-STO) and then hop on a low-cost from there, might be even cheaper depending on your dates and luggage requirements.

You're right moater, I've just checked them out to nip back to watch Plymouth at Wembley - 22,490 Baht flying to Heathrow, which is very tempting.

For those going the other way, I got a great deal for late June with Quatar LHR-BKK-LHr (sub 2 hour stopover in Doha) for £363.84 via SkyScanner.

I've got a ticket for June on Quatar as well for £366 from Birmingham, it must be one of the cheapest I've had and it means I don't have to go back to London after visiting family.J.J.B. wrote:For those going the other way, I got a great deal for late June with Quatar LHR-BKK-LHr (sub 2 hour stopover in Doha) for £363.84 via SkyScanner.

Aye, in the other direction Qatar has a promotion from many UK cities now. Edinburgh-BKK is £285, Birmingham-BKK is £306 and so on. These price ranges work to other Asian destinations too - Hong Kong, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu at least. Prices have gone up slightly since it started apparently, or it's highly date-sensitive, because you guys are getting a £60 premium.
Also, Emirates is running a 40%-off promo right now, today is the last day to use it. The code is JUNE40 and valid for flights departing Europe to all destinations between 5/6 and 3/7.
If you can't get in on those, there are other regional deals to BKK (all return flights), Belgrade-BKK is €358, Prague-BKK is €364, Istanbul-BKK is €283. You just need to connect to them from wherever you happen to be in Europe with one of the low costs.

Bargain airline fares
I'm looking fora good fare ona flight to Canada, I tried 3 0r 4 cheap-ticket sites. I was amazed how they all listed the same airlines in the same order. These sites used to be an alternative to travel agents but seem to have become mainstream. I trieda couple of airlines direct and found better fares than at the sites. Anybody recommend a good site.

Re: Flight to Thailand bargains
A couple of weeks ago I paid the equivalent of THB25,500 for an economy class return ticket on TG from Kuala Lumpur to London Heathrow departing January 8th with 14 day stops both ways in Bangkok. I fly this route a few times each year but usually pay THB40,000 upwards. The very weak ringgit (dropped from 10 to 8 baht) explains a lot of it.
