buksida wrote:A flight carrying 40 passengers from Hua Hin, Thailand, has arrived at Subang Skypark Airport on 18 December, signaling the inaugural Berjaya Air flight connecting Hua Hin, Thailand and Subang, Malaysia. The introduction of this thrice-weekly route offering 72 seats each way is a welcome news for Malaysia’s tourism industry and is an opportunity to boost tourist arrivals from Thailand.

The passengers, participants of a special familiarization group, are here at the invitation of Berjaya Air to see and experience Malaysia first hand; they include the Lord Mayor of Hua Hin, Mr Nopporn Vuttikul, Governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, Mr. Weera Sriwathanatrakoon, Tourism Authority of Thailand Director, Mr Wiboon Nimitwanich, guests from Hua Hin Municipality Government, travel agents, and media officials.

The group was treated to a warm Malaysian reception upon arrival at Subang Skypark Airport, complete with kompang and cultural perfomances. During the three day familiarization trip to Kuala Lumpur, the group will visit some key attractions such as the former Istana Negara, Dataran Merdeka, Royal Selangor, PETRONAS Twin Towers and KL Tower. A major highlight is the shopping spree at three designated shopping malls, i.e. Suria KLCC, Mid Valley Mega Mall and Sunway Pyramid. They will also be hosted to dinner and cultural performance at Saloma Theatre Restaurant by Tourism Malaysia tonight.

Hua Hin, with a population of 80,000, is about 200km south of Bangkok, and has a potential golfer and expatriate market that can be tapped for tourism purposes.

Last year, Malaysia received 1,442,048 tourists from Thailand, with many of them preferring to visit Kuala Lumpur, Genting Highlands, Penang and Putrajaya.

If they are using the ATR72 planes, that may be a minus in regard to getting golf clubs on board. They are the same planes that BKK Air use to go from Phuket to Samui. I am pretty sure that on that route there is a smaller luggage allowance plus definitely a smaller hand luggage size and allowance (5kgs). This was being very closely policed on the two flights I took over and back 3 months ago.

If you had a group of say 10 people all with clubs, I would say that you may be hard pressed to fit everyone's clubs in if the plane was full.
May not be the case, but both my flights were full and saw little other that normal luggage being transported.

Had a quick look at their website for flights in February for a necessary border run and back. Return price (promo) was coming in at U$183. Not bad for an international flight but given you need to spend at least 2 nights before the next return flight, I think I might still use the Andaman Club at Ranong to get it over and done with quickly. My thinking would be different if taking a short holiday but it won't be at this time.

With the advent of the new airport bus from HH there might be some better options via Suvarnabhumi. But of course Air Asia have now moved to Don Muang........

Hi, 3 questions.

1. Does the 100ml liquid bottle size or smaller also apply at HH airport when flying with Berjaya Air ? i.e. it isnt possible to take bottles of drink through baggage check.

2. If it does apply, is is possible to buy water, or other drinks, after baggage check, but before getting on the plane ?

3. Are there any drinks or food served or available on the plane. I think it is a 2 1/2 hour flight.

Thanks

Nok Air new flights Hua Hin to Bangkok

Post by buksida »

Just tried the Berjaya site, doesn't give KL as an option when trying to book - only Penang and the cost is 4100 one way promo rate.

Bit of a sting since you can book Air Asia from Don Muang to KL costing half that!

Anyway, back to Nok ...

Buksida, they don't fly everyday to KL and it's not KUL they fly to it's SZB (Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah) which is nearer the centre of KL than KUL is.

Supposedly, they have a booking office next to XXL Burger and the reported cost is 6350 RT Hua Hin/KL. Second hand info though.

Sorry, back to the off topic (maybe should be moved to a new thread) :D

Here it is from their web site: RT for 204 USD which equates to TB 6356.64 using today's local average bank exchange rate of dollars/baht:

Looking at the Berjaya Air website, there is no longer a flight from HH to KL. Anyone know if this is temporary or why its stopped ? I used it a few times and whilst not packed (except for thurs from KL to HH and sunday from HH to KL) it did reasonable business.

Be a shame if it has stopped forever. However, their marketing in HH always seemed poor - maybe they could do with better targeting.

I have used the service from Huahin and its fantastic. Just wish they would add the airport tax into the price instead of being asked for it when you put your luggage in. Everyone should use it to keep it going. Great also for visa runs.

Going out of Huahin, just as you pass the Huahin Hospital they have an office on the left there. Its around 5000bt one way and not much more return. airport tax is 400bt
