Hua Hin Airport

Post by faq2mfh »

What has become of the Hua Hin airport? Wasn't it going to, eventually, be an International Airport? I heard a rumor years ago that there would never be regularly traffic due to it's close proximity to the Royal Palace. Why on earth did they spend all that money?
I'm guessing SG are still doing a couple trips per day with that 12-seater Cesna.

There is a few daily flights to Bangkok.

HH Airport will go international when the Hydrofoil to Pattaya and Disney Hua Hin both open.

I think it is only SG, just 2 a day, as you said before.

Im not sure who will be partnering HH Disney and HH-PYX Hydrofoil Co though.

It would be great if there was a selection of internal flights, Chiang Mai, Surin, Phuket, etc etc etc.

Never going to happen though.

In my opinion it wouldn't be nice. The place is too busy already

Yeah JG,

I would selfishly agree. I hate the traffic and lack of parking downtown, but I am retired and on a pension. The hotel, bar, and restaurant owners would like to see more visitors here, I'm sure, so making Hua Hin more accessible via the airport would probably help them and be a welcome addition. :)

Too busy is an understatement. Regular flights to and from Bangkok alone would reduce traffic. Especially on weekends...

f2,

That's a good point. The traffic and parking problems would probably be helped as some Thai holiday people may fly instead of driving... good for the hua hin taxis and tuks tuks too! Get those things rolling and out of my parking spaces! :D :thumb:

Hi,

i think the HH to Pattaya flights have been looked at in the past.

The Cessna Caravan that flies to BKK has a limit on how far offshore it can travel in a public transport role. I think the distance is 50 nautical miles. A direct flight to Pattaya is just over that distance.

An option would be another aircraft type or to follow the contour of the coastline north.
