Birds Nest

Post by Big Boy »

Mrs BB found this innovative birds nest while doing her gardening this morning.

The bird had twisted a leaf into shape and had lined it with some sort of soft seeds. If you look at the inside of the nest, you can see a small egg (compared with Mrs BB's finger nail) on one of the edges.

According to a neighbour, this kind of nest belongs to a little yellow bird.

Mrs BB has re-hung the nest in the hope the mother will return (she didn't go near the inside of the nest, so we're hopeful).

Can anybody tell me the type of bird the nest will belong to please?

There's a picture of another nest here http://thenimbleowl.blogspot.com/2010/0 ... can-i.html very similar to yours, but the photo is too big to post and I'm feeling lazy!

Quite interesting - they 'sew' the leaf closed
This is the way
