Kaeng Krachan golf course

Post by Tunafish »

Yesterday I played Kaeng Krachan for the first time in about a year.
The course is in magnificent condition, greens, fairways and tee boxes,
and EMPTY. There were hardly any divot marks on the fairways, so it
appears that people are not playing there in the low season.
Who in their right mind would want to pay silly to play at Black Mountain
when you can play this for 600 Baht?
Well worth th 45 minute drive.

Yes, it's an excellent course and I also havn't been there for about a year since it was taken over.
I believe that the Lake (A) 9 is still closed. Is that the case and are they doing any work on it as the previous owners had let it go to seed?

The course was closed for a while and was just being used by Korean groups and for Korean pro events. There has been no promotion at all and is a bit of a hidden secret but yes, a very good golf course. Especially the new 9 holes. The new 9 holes is the best 9 holes in the whole area, no question.

Yes, I played the new 9, very good but the par 4's are all very long !

But I wouldn't say it is the best 9 holes in the area, I would give that to
the C course at Majestic, when they finally finish the renovation!

Sorry tunafish, I just meant in my opinion it is the best 9 holes in the area. I have played the C 9 at Majestic one time. Very nice but the crazy slopes on the greens and the poor construction work spoilt it for me. Very nice setting and layout though.

I've called them before but many moons ago. Try this number - 032 422145. It might be an old number or get you through to the sales side but if the latter they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks a lot for posting possible phone numbers, guys.

I've tried them all but, unfortunately, none of them work.

Also tried following dozer's link and found the website kaengkrachanresort.com but the site is down and listed as possibly for sale.

So back to square on.

I suppose we'll end up just going there and looking for ourselves.

If anyone, maybe the OP (tunafish) does have any contact info, it would be great to get it!!

From what I've heard, if you get there mid-week you should be able to just tee off.
The serious players start around 2pm so there might be a back log but they seem very capable so I don't think you'll be held up.
There are some really good players there and even if you're held up a bit, find some shade!!

Thanks a lot for that lomu - we're actually thinking of going tomorrow (Sunday) morning. Is that likely to be a problem, d'you think?

I have always played mid-week, I think it gets pretty busy on the weekends, but if you get there first light maybe it will be okay

I went to KK today and picked up a festival form. The number they have for KK is 0814 432788.
I went to book two tee times for next Friday and sure enough in the club house Friday Sports Day is 600 baht green fee but because next Friday is the 1st August it is the start of the golf festival and the special promotion price is 1000 baht.
So normal Friday price is 600 baht but during the August and September festival the special promotion price is 1000 baht.
The course did look in great condition but I think we will wait until October.
