Members online booking system at Springfield.

Post by heartofmidlothian »

They are bringing in a new online members booking system at Springfield. They are trying to send a letter to all the members, but I have not received one yet. I heard about it yesterday from the club staff, but nothing on their web site or noticeboard.
You will be able to book online 14 days in advance (you will only be able to book in the shop 3 days in advance). You will be issued a members ID and a password and will be able to book one time, plus you will need the member ID's of any other playing partners. You will have to pre-pay your caddie fees by credit card. You will then be sent an e-mail confirmation which you should print out and bring with you. If you haven't paid your annual dues or haven't been issued your password, then you will not be able to book times. Pretty important that all active members contact Springfield, if you don't receive a letter in the near future. Could be some pretty unhappy members who aren't contacted and haven't heard about this - so pass the message around for those concerned.
Will be interesting to see how this system works. In theory it should be better, but only if all members are told, and I don't really understand why they wouldn't have announced it on their website and noticeboard first! Xmas until the end of Feb, is the normal problem period, and also the closure of B/C from 14th to 26th Jan, for tour school. I guess you are pretty screwed if you don't use internet or have a credit card!
I think most of the longtime members understand that this period is not an easy time for us and they are understandably trying to make as much as possible. Might not be quite as easy to explain this to a new member, who has just paid them 100 000 baht transfer fee and then paid their annual dues, to find out that they can't really get a time (other than starting in the dark). A piece of advice for new members - don't bother to complain. If you get pissed off and decide to sell your membership, then they make 100 000 baht and if you complain enough, then you can get banned.
Have any of you Springfield members, received this letter yet?

Rather predictably my letter has already arrived here in Blighty. You could have knocked me down with a fevva when I opened it. Let's see if it all works.

Important to make sure that your address is up to date. I checked in the pro shop and found that they had my old address - probably the reason why I haven't received the letter! I believe that they are going to send out your user ID and password by mail as well. Not sure if you will be able to get your user ID and password from the golf club, in person, if you don't receive it by mail. They don't seem to be sending out the letter by e-mail. Could be a nasty surprise for many members when they get back in December, if they don't look at this forum, or haven't received their letters!
I understand that the phone never stops ringing, in the pro shop, with members trying to book tee times 14 days in advance during peak season. I was always a lot more successful booking in person, than by phone, but that option gone now. Should solve the problem of members booking times and not showing up, which is a good thing.
Being a natural pessimist, I see big problems with this new system and probably should be brought in around May, to give more time to test it out and get the message out to the members.
We have to understand, as members, that at peak times, we are a nuisance! Ultimately, we need 1 or 2 member only courses in this area. Not going to happen soon though, but one day it will, when things get even worse.

Hi Everyone, Good info on how to change your address and the new booking system.
This is from the website: http://springfieldresort.com/golf/member.html

Welcome to Springfield Royal Country Club Member

Dear Member,

Since our founding 19 years ago, we have learnt a great deal, and today have statistics, data and knowledge about our member’s preferences and habits. Your likes and dislikes. We also know the golfers seasonality and tee-off time preferential.

On this latter issue, I am proud and privileged to inform you that we will be introducing a new computerized booking system, designed exclusively for our members (Springfield Member Online Booking System, SMOBS), towards the end of this year. The program is currently being developed and we sincerely hope that you will enjoy the new, modern, convenient and transparent system when it becomes operational.

At this juncture I would like to explain to you an important part of the new system’s feature. We have carefully studied the booking and cancellation names and numbers of year 2011, noted the ratios of member VS non-member during each month, and will use these monthly ratios for the allocation of the future bookings. It is hoped that this exercise will put our booking in perspective and instill a balance that long term, will benefit all parties concerned.

Features of this SMOBS to be noted include the following:

1. All members whose annual dues are not in arrears will be issued a user name (10-digit membership number) and password. The latter will be sent to you to your mailing address. Therefore, please ensure that your address given to the Club is up to date. This can be sent to us via email at golfmember@springfieldresort.com or by postal mail to our office.

2. Tee-off time slots that are available will be shown online and you will be able to book up to 14 days in advance.

3. Members can reserve one tee-off time per day during the above mentioned 14 days.

4. Each reservation can be made for one to four golfers, all of whom must be ordinary, associate member(s) or member’s guest(s).

5. The primary member who logs in can reserve tee-off time for other secondary SFRCC member(s) whose annual dues payment are up-to-date to join his/her group. In such case, the primary member will be required to provide only the ID numbers of the secondary members, but not the password.

6. In order to minimize processing time at the pro-shop, primary members logging in are requested to pay via credit card, online, the following fees:

6.1. Caddy fee Bht. 300.- per golfer was adjusted from Bht.250.- to Bht. 300.-, effective August 1, 2012)

6.2. Green fee (member’s guest rate as posted).

7. Tee-off time cancellation can be made by deferring the booking to an available later-date or time. The postponement of online bookings must be made no less than four days in advance of the previously reserved date.

8. Reservations in person or by phone at the pro-shop remains an available option but should be made three days in advance (after the online cut-off period of four days as mentioned above).

9. The 4 golfer-per-group policy remains in force, and the Club reserves the right to fill any group up to four.

10. Members will receive an automated email confirmation of their booking and for their payment. Members are requested to bring the confirmation email, either by your smart phone or in printed form, to our pro-shop to help minimize document processing time.

You are most welcomed to send us your comments, suggestions and to update your mailing address at golfmember@springfieldresort.com and to keep you abreast of the progress, we will periodically post the news online at www. springfieldresort.com

I shall be writing to you again in due course, sharing with you the progress of this new development. Until then.

Yours very sincerely,

Arnajak Attapreyangkul (Pro Jack)

They have amended the rules slightly, for instance you no longer need to pay in advance and cancellation is now 24 hours. Need to look at the website for full details. However, the number of slots available on certain days (especially for AB) is laughable. Sometimes none at all and sometime nothing before 8.00am (and this is for 14 days in advance!). Intetrested to know other people's expeience of the system so far. Also there does not seem to be any way of cancelling a booking through the system. I guess its a start but if it makes it even harder for members to get preferred tee times.........

I have been away working for the last 2 months. Just noticed that on the Springfield web site there is a log in now for the members booking. I made the effort to contact them to make sure they had my e-mail address but I haven't received my password etc? My friends haven't received this either. Have they sent this info out to most people (obviously not all). I will be back there in early Jan and keen to book some times. From the very start I felt that this new system was tactics to make it more difficult for active members to book during the peak periods. If they really aren't sending out the info to everyone, then they are either incompetent or deliberately trying to make booking times difficult!
