Its great to get good information about all these great places to choose from.
I too am enjoying this discussion.

When you buy a house you get 1 lifetime membership. That is the only way to get a membership.

I looked very serious at Banyan. To far to the course. Even when the road gets built over its still to far. Tough walk I bet.
Heard wayyyy to many facts about Banyans reputation regarding the rental pool. People being lied too and not paid.
Way over promised and under delivered.
Do I golf there? Yes. Is it really nice yes! Would I buy a home and become a member? No.
Hence..Banyan is Banyan. Very nice don't get me wrong just some major issues need to be addressed.

We bought a second membership as well. My brother and I share the house.

I don't have any issues with BMG making buying a home mandatory to become a member. I believe it will make the whole membership better.

Most of the houses are built now. Ready to move in. We bought a show home and made some changes. Others have made changes as well.

I hear people saying this place is cheaper but... And this place is cheaper too but.... The but = problems and headaches.

Remember many thing are negotiable in Thailand. :naughty:

    It is official! I have my Springfield Royal Country Club Family Lifetime Membership! Just received my "Official Receipt with my name and membership number" and also direct confirmation from Springfield's Bangkok Home Office. I have been watching out for a membership to come available for about 9 months. I located the membership on a "Thailand Golf Memberships For Sale" web site. (This is not the name of the website)
Purchased it for 335,00 Baht Total. 107,000 Baht for transfer fee, 223,000 Baht to owner and agent, 5000 Baht to DHL all documents and applications to India for signatures, etc. I will pay my membership fees when I come in December ( pay for one month) and then pay for the next year. 10,700 Baht annual plus 7,490 Baht for spouse if they play golf. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and things to watch out for. It was most helpful. Currently at Springfield the cost is 450,000 Baht for 30 years (maximum available) and 120,000 Baht for 5 years membership. Annual fees the same. If anyone would like to know about the websites I used, PM me and I will send it to you. They buy and sell memberships for all of Thailand. Look forward to some golf with some of you when I come. Eventually hope to have a game with all. Happy Golfing!

I don't know if in earlier thread pages someone did the math, but that's a lot of golf. At 2,000 baht a round that's 167.5 rounds, or about 6.5 years if playing every two weeks. But.......if you play a lot and regularly, and can resell it again if needed I guess it's a good deal. You seem very happy, and that's a good thing! :thumb: Pete

Yes Pete, It is fully resale-able. Good point. So your net cost would be minus the transfer fee and any commission if you sell through some agency. Cost per round comes down and makes it a better value then.

When I enquired recently it was bht 800,000 life membership and then about Bht 35,000 per year - way too expensive compared to Springfield with 27 holes and Lakeview with 36 holes, regardless if you have a 12 year or lifetime membership elsewhere IMO

Jingjoe,

I am new to Hua Hin but not to Thailand and Asia in general.

I have been looking at golf memberships and it came down to Springfield or lakeview, and I am still undecided, however Lakeview has 36 holes and from what I saw was in good condition with excellent greens.

I was told that it is difficult to book a reasonable tee time at Springfield , say between 8.00 & 1o.00am in the High Season. Is this true and is it also true that you can only book 14 days in advance and even then you need to be on the phone 1 minute after midnight to get a booking ?

The forum seems to have many Springfield members so please let me know

From what i understand it is hard to get on any course during high season, and frankly i would rather play when the course is quiet, nothing worse getting caught behind a lot of groups.
The other option is to tee off earlier,630am,back in the clubhouse midmorning, nice drive home.
I looked at a lot of memberships,i believe springfield is the best value, a one off joining fee for life, which can be sold, and a low maintenance fee and no green fees, just caddy and caddy tip.so if i play 50games a year at todays prices, its 300caddy plus 300caddy tip times 50 =30000bht plus 12800maintenance = 42000bht
a year .Thats 840bht a round all in!
