Wet season and golf courses

Post by Phil D »

Be there in a few weeks. Just wondering how the golf courses around Hua Hin stack up in the wet season. Do they drain well. Which are the best courses taht we should be seeking to play at this time of the year

All ok, the wet season is not so wet here! Typically if it rains you can shelter until its finished.

The courses play longer for me because I don't get much run on the ball off the tee at the best of times.
But, as JW has already said, all the courses are playing well. I'm praying for a bit more rain to hopefully slow the greens down a bit. Then again, I'll lose another 10 yds off my drives.
Yours,
A frustrated golfer at the moment!!

Thanks for the info. The courses look great on the net. Positively salivating at getting to play them. Hope to cover all the main courses during the month that we are there. If we don't have to play on wet muddy fairways all the better.

As to being a frustrated golfer looking for an extra 10 yards theres not many of us amateur golfers that don't fit into that category. The fast greens sound dangerous coming from the slow greens of a Canberra winter!

I reckon you already know the sensible thing to do and that's to pick up, clean and place on fairways if necessary, unless you're playing in a competition when the rules will be set for everyone.
Yes, the ball can collect a bit of mud after a good shot but don't let the lush conditions put you off. It's not a marsh out there and the courses are great.
Have good fun and post some reports back on your thread after you've played.
BTW, from August 1st the Hua Hin and Cha-Am golf festival is on so most courses discount heavily until the end of September. OK, the courses will be carrying out routine maintenance during the two months but they have to.
The fairways won't be waterlogged, the greens may have been scarified and given a dusting of sand/fertiliser but they still run true and a most of them are of championship standard so that defeats me!!
Have a look here viewtopic.php?f=4&t=10055&start=720 for more info but I also see that you've posted there before.
