Banyan golf

Charlesh, just looked up www.golfhuahin.com and the price quoted there was B 3000. I would not know whether this is their current pricing structure. I would assume under the circumstances that they've lowered it.. Anybody can assist more?

The green fee is Bht3,250 which includes a buggy ( regardless of whether you use it).

I played the Banyan on my last visit and I got a small discount with a Springfield membership. We teed off first and zipped round. The caddies were not bad at all (despite being led to believe the contrary).

The course was in first-class condition and I rated the layout. Not cheap but convenient for town and a must play for all vistors I reckon.

Any other views out there??

I also played it recently, it's a very nice layout and clubhouse... Hate to play using buggies though and I didn't get a chance to ask if you can walk the course. If I were to buy a villa/membership, that would be an important consideration. I'm one of those people that thinks a golf course is meant to be walked and not driven.

I thought the course was in excellent condition but the greens seemed a bit slow for a course of that calibre. The range isn't very nice and they ran out of caddies that day so I had to wait about 30 minutes which was also a disappointment.

I think I'm still partial to Black Mountain though the layout may not be quite as nice and I thought it seemed a bit dry. The greens are way better there.

Still a very pleasant day out and definitely a must play for the visitor in Hua Hin.

I used to think that before I moved to a place that has temps in the mid 30's and humidity in the 90% range most of the time.

Now I'd like to see a place with buggies that have enclosed cabs and air con! :D

That's a funny one... It does get a little tougher in April but with the umbrella out, a little iced drink in the back and a towel, it's manageable. But I've always liked a little sweating.

Considering I cycled in July/August from BKK to Luang Prabang and another time from Sg to BKK, I figure golf isn't all that bad...

I do have to admit that I never really saw the need to shower after golf until I came to play in Asia.

I actually find Thailand generally better than HK area in the summer. When I walk Kau Sai Chau or Macau in August carrying my own bag, most people look at me like a madman which I admittedly am.

3K plus a round! At todays exchange rates thats nearly $100 us or $150oz! Maybe will play it once but a bit on the high side i think. Had a group of 12 golfers booked here to go to hua hin for 2 weeks of golf. But with the exchange rate they have canceled and i wonder how many others are contemplating the same?
Has curtailed my sojourns as well. Used to come 2 or 3 times a year but as it stands now will only come once this year.

Yes, it is getting a bit expensive, there's no doubt about it. Best to wait until summer and get the better deals. Hopefully we'll see the 800Baht special once again in August and then it becomes a great deal. In the meantime, there are plenty of outstanding golf courses to play cheap.

Played Lum Lukka north of Bangkok on a weekday last week for 700Baht, that course is as good as any. Great layout, nice greens, challenging. A bit on the busy side for weekdays but not too bad.

800 is more like it. Add the caddie fee and tip. Petrol money and some drinks. All in 1,500 Baht minimum. That's 30 quid at best.
Other courses - 3,500 for the green fee.
I can't afford that. I'm sure the courses are good, but 70 odd quid (with all the extras caddie, tip, petrol money and a few beers), forget it for me.
When I go back to the UK and play my father's course, it costs me 10 pounds to be signed in. That's all. And a good heathland course.

Yes the 10 - 25 quid mark is right up my street. 35 for a special occasion. 50 quid and I get palpitations!
