Looking for Car Wash

Post by Big Boy »

Since falling out with my last car wash company for imposing an extra charge because my car has 4 doors :? I've been cleaning my own, which I don't mind because there is an element of self-satisfaction and added exercise. However, it is not always convenient to do it myself. I tried another place yesterday and was told 500 Baht (nearly £12). I just turned and walked away - I would have done the same in the UK 5 years ago.

I'm about to do the clean myself, but would appreciate recommendations of car wash places (preferably in the Soi 88/94 area) that do a reasonable job for a fair price, which I can try in the future.

I'm not looking for perfection, so any suggestions would be appreciated. I would never consider going back to the place that imposed the 4 door tax i.e. my Thai neighbour is still charged the old rate for a similar sized 4 door pick-up, which tells me the increase had nothing to do with the number of doors on my car.

Have you tried the one in the small soi between San Paulo and Grand Market, I don't know the price but it was always busy when I was attending SP for treatment. I am going down later today and will inquire about the price.

Hi BB, have you tried the one on soi 88, coming from your place, cross the railway line, head to towards Petkhasem and it's on your left. Charged me 200 last year as far as I recall.

LOL - I used to use that one until it became a pickle ball court.

You have to wonder why anyone lives in Hua Hin. We have a similarly sized truck to you and it costs 200 baht in Bangsaphan to have it cleaned.

Does your truck have a Prachuap or a Bangkok plate BB? If Bangkok they may be in the habit of overcharging the weekend beach birds who come down. Pete

Hi, BB. I still use the one you previously used. You did warn that the price was up. I've found that also but only 20 baht. The wheels weren't counted and it's the same for my wife's car which is 14 years old and not as big as mine. They do do a good job I have to say.

In Bangkok I pay 150 Baht for my Land Rover. That includes underneath but not inside.
