Well Nereus I'm one of them.Nereus wrote:Yes, pimping up a car is a bit strange. I do not know how true it is, but I have heard that some folks even give their car names, like "Doris" or "Katy", or even "Babe"
I unashamedly call my Honda Accord 'Babe' - and why not I say.................
I've seen plenty of the plastic wind-up foam keys in Bangkok and have even been tempted to get one for my ancient Toyota Hilux (Of attempted Clarkson destruction fame) - which incidentally bears the name of the 'green meany'.
Love the 10 pipes on the Volvo - but a bit tasteless.
Pete - I have also been tempted to dual the pipes on my 2.4. But as any Accord owner (Apart from the older V6s) knows, Honda have limited the engine choice to 2.0 or 2.4 in the last three versions - so it would be, and is, an obvious pimp.
One of the best ways to 'pimp' is of course to change the electronic engine management chip. All modern cars possess these and they are always set by the manufacturers to limit the performance a wee bit thereby not allowing average joe to blow his engine up.
There are specialist companies that will provide you with an upgraded chip that is a simple plug in - and will alter such things as overall horsepower, fuel consumption etc etc. You can get chips for most makes and models.
Your warranty from the original manufacture will go out the window of course.
This is known as a subtle pimp - I mean let's face it when you have as much as an extra 10 -20% of extra bhp under the bonnet - why advertise it...........................
