Problem downloading GPS map

Post by barrys »

Hope someone can help me with this.
I'm trying to download a new map on my Garmin Nuevi 2467 for a road trip next week.
I've sourced the map and downloaded Garmin BaseCamp as instructed for the installation.
The problem is: BaseCamp says it cannot find my GPS device.
This is very strange because Garmin Express does recognise the device.
Anyone have any ideas?

Hi Barry
It might be as simple as Express is locking the connection. Try shutting Express down before opening Basecamp.
If you want to make your dream come true, the first thing you have to do is to wake up.

I used to download maps to my Garmin Nuvi over there from:

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I paid 1500 baht or so to Garmin for lifetime updates. First time I updated it placed the car about 200m off the road I was travelling on. Looked like I was driving through fields. I ended up taking the Satnav to Garmin in Bangkok who fixed it for me.
A fool and his money are soon partying!

Thanks for all the advice on this.
I was in Bangkok last week, so I took it to the Garmin specialists ERSI at Sathorn Nakorn Tower.
Apparently, they had to update the internal software of my GPS (which I though was done automatically when connecting it to the Garmin Express software, but obviously not). They then helped me download the third-party map I had purchased online and it now works. I was out of there within an hour and there was no charge - excellent service!!
