Not that it will help your cause BB but I was seriously close to buying a Ranger. Guess what! It won't happen now. Great specs, great pick up but with PPS (Piss Poor Service) it won't happen. Hopefully Ford Thailand will take notice and improve the situation.

I hope that you get this resolved quickly and that it addresses the root cause so that others can gain from your bad experience.

I hope!

However, as a Farang in Thailand I'm getting more than I expected.
Sorry Big Boy, but this thinking is completely wrong. You are a customer, not just a Farang!
From what you have posted since the start of this saga when you first ordered the car, you have paid for something that you are not getting. Do you really believe that they would pull some of this crap on a Thai? Without going back through all your posts I am sure that you wrote somewhere that these idiots said something to the effect of: "Farang always complain".
That explains their attitude completely, and you should include that as part of your complaint.
They are trying to sweet talk me with some discounts
Yes that`s right, and will be followed up with a bunch of flowers!
Who are "they"? Any conciliation should be coming from the head office of Ford, but I read you post as it coming from the local dealer? Do not accept the dealers flowery excuses and offers!
May you be in heaven half an hour before the devil know`s you`re dead!

Hi BB.
Sorry to hear your problems seem to be ongoing, but hopefully at an end reading your recent post.
I Must say, I too ordered a Ranger at Ford Huahin back in August 2012, at the time of ordering I was not living in Thailand, so when I was given a delivery date of June 2013, it was not a big deal.
Anyway I move to Huahin a lot sooner than originally planed (October) again not a real problem my wife had a car I used.
I went to Ford shortly after arriving to see how delivery date stood, again I had been following you posts regarding your problems closely.
Anyway my Ranger arrives December I collected it Jan 3rd, since having it a couple of problems arose, which had been repaired in a timely fashion.
I must point out no tea money was paid or asked for.
Ken.

Ken,

Either you've been lucky, or I've been unlucky. From talking to quite a few others, I think it's the former.

My car broke down within 24 hours, which was fixed immediately. Apart from a mysterious central locking problem that Ford couldn't replicate, and which eventually cured itself, I've had no problems with the car.

For me, it is the attitude of the personnel working at Hua Hin Ford. However, their lack of English doesn't help - I always have to talk through my wife. It must be the only place in Hua Hin where English is a problem. Yes, and I do wonder if my wife's 'non-tech' interpretation is part of the problem, but I'm technically inapt anyway.

I hope your luck continues, and you don't fall foul of them. Please share it if things change.

Nereus,

You are of course correct. However, I did really want a solution, and as such was probably persuaded rather easily. Travelling to at least Petchaburi every time the car needed some work was not really practical. What does one do to amuse themselves in Petchaburi for a day?

The discounts are coming from Head Office, but I'm assuming they will be passed down to Hua Hin in one form or another. Whatever, you can be sure Hua Hin Ford are fully aware - there was a gap of 3 hours while HO were investigating with Hua Hin. I'm sure I was called a few names also because of the time I totally lost it because of the wrong bed liner being fitted.

Yes, there was the remark 'Farangs always complain'. Unfortunately, I forgot that one until you reminded me

US,

Thanks - I'm hoping that tomorrow's visit will bring an end to a medical episode that has gone on for several months.

I took my Ranger back to Fords Hua Hin as the drivers side electric window stopped working. I told them to fix under the guarantee. Whilst in the waiting room they came and said to my wife we would like to do some safety checks. She said okay. After half an hour I was getting a bit concerned so I wandered out only to find the supervisor had reversed my pick up into one of the iron girders. The rear bumper was crunched and none of them knew what to do. They had just taken delivery of new Rangers so he said he would take off the new car and give to me. It took them thirty five minutes to remove the rear bumper it is really bolted on. I suggested he got another mechanic to remove the other new one to save time which he finally agreed to do. On removal of the bumper the metalwork was also creased he ask me if that was okay. I just said you must be joking get it fixed. After a phone call he said it would be ready in the morning. I was given the blue demo Ranger and returned the following day. My Ranger was their like new all sprayed up so after inspection they put the new bumper on. When it was finished I inspected and okay with the repair. The only problem was the pick up was dirty and you could see the dust from the over spray so I ask them to clean as it was like new when I first came to the garage. After talking to the washer people he came back and said cannot do and just kept saying no no. I then went straight into the showroom and demanded to see the manager. Same cannot see so I sat down and said I would wait within a couple of minutes I was in his office. After explaining what had happened all I wanted was a loose wire fixing in the door. He apologized this was the first time anybody had said sorry. He left the office and after a while came back and said the car wash people are a franchise nothing to do with Ford so cannot clean today but promised to put in my records to give a full valet on my next service. This happened last month without any problems. The extras that they wanted to check be aware they wanted to charge for this service even though I really didn't want, so I just refused and didn't pay.My honest opinion is a newish company with a great pick up and mega sales but not professional enough to handle. Any problems go straight to the manager he speaks good English don't waste your time with the others.

An update....... it now seems that everybody at Ford wants to be my friend. My wife and I have been inundated with phone calls from Asia Head Office, Thailand Head Office and Hua Hin Ford, either apologising, or offering something as compensation. They are due to call again this afternoon.

It does suit me to have the problem resolved quickly, so I am being quite accomodating.

This episode seems to be coming to a satisfactory close and I hope there is no future re-occurrence.

I think it's a good time to go have a talk with the HH manager and tell him you're not an unreasonable man. Tell him all you want is to be treated professionally, not abused as in the case of the 10K deposit demand, have all work done without cheating or EVEN your need to check things like if oil or other fluids were changed once home, and not get ripped off with inflated prices. Tell him your trust level in them is low, but you want to work with them on things as you'll be a long term customer. I think you'll have a good result with an approach like that. In addition, mention that quite a few in HH seem to want to buy a Ford, but are put off by their attitude. Pete

You could also mention that there are a lot of us watching this forum to see the outcome even if we drive other brands of car and we are all potential customers.

The car is better again now, and the people at Ford couldn't do enough for me - even a group of employees outside the workshop to give me a wai when I arrived(wonder what they'd have really liked to give me).

A happy ending ....... I hope.
