Two killed when BMW hits tree in Hua Hin

http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/general ... in-hua-hin

PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN -- A man and a woman were killed when their car ran off the road on a curve and hit a big tree in Hua Hin district early on Friday, police said.

The accident occurred about 3.45am on the South-bound lane of Phetkasem Highway near an army training school for non-commissioned officers in tambon Nong Kae.

The BMW was travelling to Pran Buri district when it failed to negotiate a sharp curve, left the road and ran into the tree, Pol Lt Pornchanok Lert-awat, a duty officer at Hua Hin police station, said. The car was demolished.

The bodies of Kittikhun Rojbovornwithaya, 31, and Juthamas Omkaew, 24, were found trapped in the vehicle. Rescuers took a long time to extract them from the wreckage.

I walked past the accident scene this morning. There is no sharp curve. No curve at all in fact. It's about 200 meters south of the fueling station at the park entrance. Pretty much straight as a string.

Car parts were still laying about. A rimless tires was on the grass. A road sign had been demolished. Shame those people lost their lives.

Three people were killed and 12 others injured when a car collided with a pickup truck loaded with fruit pickers in Hot district early Sunday, according to media reports.

The accident occurred at about 7.10am at kilometre marker No. 55 on Hot-Doi Tao road in tambon Ban Tan, said Pol Capt Patarapol Wongchanta, a duty officer at Hot police station.

At the scene, the Toyota car was found by police and rescue workers to have rammed into a roadside tree. The driver, Supachai Krongsawat, 30, was killed. A woman, who has not yet been identified, travelling with him in the car was slightly injured. The car was severely damaged.

The Toyota pickup truck overturned in the collision. Two men -- Paiboon Yosboonyuen, 31, and Thong Tanthang, 59 -- were killed and 12 other people were injured. All of them were workers heading for a longan plantation.

UTTARADIT - Five passengers were killed and 25 hurt, 10 seriously, when an interprovincial bus plunged off a hillside road and into a deep ravine in this lower northern province on Tuesday morning.

The tour bus, carrying about 40 passengers, was travelling from Phrae to Bangkok. It ran off the winding down hill road on Doi Khao Pueng mountain and into a 50-metre deep ravine at Haiha village in tambon Ban Dan Nakham in Muang district about 10am on Tuesday, said Pol Lt Col Charoen Daengruang, deputy traffic chief at Muang police station.

The bus, operated by state-run Transport Co, was heading to Muang district of Uttaradit.

Emergency teams lifted the injured and dead from the wreckage. Five passengers were killed and 25 other people injured, 10 badly. The driver, whose name was not released, was among the injured.

The accident occurred on the road between Uttaradit’s Muang district and Phrae’s Den Chai district. Police will question the bus driver when he is well enough.

I have travelled that road many times over the past 15 years or so. There are many steep sections and sharp turns, but the road has had millions spent on it over the past few years, including safety fencing and passing lanes. But every time I use it there will be several idiots speeding and overtaking on blind corners.

18 holidaying retirees killed, 20 hurt in tour bus crash

UTTARADIT - Eighteen people, all retired employees of CAT Telecom, were killed and 20 other people injured when a tour bus plunged off a hillside road and into a deep ravine in this lower northern province...

I seldom travel by bus or coach in Thailand but I actually don't remember seeing any emergency doors. Perhaps I'm not very observant but most if the same in Europe have rear windows that serve as exit doors if the vehicle is on its side. Is this the same here for modern busses/coaches?

Accident intersection Naresdamri Soi 61.

Post by huahin4ever »

Just passed through the intersection Naresdamri and Soi 61. I drove a car so I couldn't stop to see more thorough, but there were police, ambulance, a red pickup and tuk tuk laying on it's side. Looked very dramatic. Maybe someone here knows more?

16 tourists injured in Samui bus smash
Sixteen tourists from China were injured Sunday night when their bus overturned on the popular island of Samui, police said.

The tourists were from a tour group that had just landed at an airport on the mainland and was en route to their hotel on the island, according to a police report.

Santi Hankhwa, the 24-year-old driver for the bus, which was operated by a company called Samui Sunshine Holiday Tour, told reporters he lost control of the vehicle as he approached a turn, which toppled as it slid into a roadside ditch.

Police said they would question Santi and ascertain the cause of the accident before filing charges against him.

One killed and 39 others injured in southern bus crash
One official of the Taksin Palace in Narathiwat was killed and about 39 others injured when a tour bus in which they were travelling was involved in a road accident in Thepa district of Songkhla on Thursday.
Police said that as the double-decker was descending downhill, it failed to negotiate a curve and skidded out of the road and rammed into a roadside tree and a roadside pavilion before it overturned.

Died at the scene of the accident was Mrs Maneerat Thongchan and 39 others who are mostly officials of Taksin Palace in Narathiwat. A police official however said he suspected slippery road surface was blamed for the accident.

Rescue teams from Narenthorn Centre in Songkhla were eventually dispatched to the scene to pick up the injured passengers, most of them women, and have them sent to Jana and Thepa district hospitals.

Later on, seven seriously injured passengers were to Hat Yai and Songkhla Nakharind hospitals for treatment.

Police said that the passengers who are mostly officials at Taksin Palace in Narathiwat were returning to Narathiwat from Bangkok where they attended a meeting when the accident occurred in Thepa district of Songkhla.

Chinese tourist killed in car crash

A Chinese tourist was killed and two other compatriots hurt when a car rammed into a tree at a ditch in Khanu Waralaksaburi district on late Sunday night.

The fatal crash occurred on Phahon Yothin Road in tambon Don Taeng at around 10pm on Sunday, said Pol Lt Arwut Kerdyindee, a duty officer at Khanu Waralaksaburi police station.

Police and rescue workers went to the scene and found a badly damaged Honda car with a Bangkok licence plate at a ditch dividing the road. Three men were found trapped inside the wreckage of the sedan.

The driver was killed and the other two badly hurt. All were Chinese tourists. They were sent to a district hospital, Thai media reported on Monday.

An investigation found that the three tourists had rented the car to make a business dealing in the province. When arriving at the spot, the car failed to negotiate a curve and rammed into a tree at the ditch, said Pol Lt Arwut.

Police were investigating.
