I dont know if this has been asked before but here goes.
Presently my life revolves around the UAE (working) UK (visiting family) and Hua Hin (second home) and the wife & I shall be going to Hua Hin full time in about 18 months and would just like to know whether or not anyone has taken a car with them and if so what are the pitfalls.
Is it worth the hassel?
Thanks LB
Importing a car to Hua Hin
Re: Importing a car to Hua Hin
Yes, it has been asked recently. The short answer is NO, it is not worth the hassle. If your wife is Thai and she can prove ownership for a period of time (not sure just how long), then she MAY be able to bring it with her.London Boy wrote:I dont know if this has been asked before but here goes.

Re: Importing a car to Hua Hin
Import duty is around 220% of car value.
Car value will deduct depend on the age of that car.
I have one customer want to import car from Ireland.
His car's value 35000 EUR as brand new but car is 11 years old so price is 30% of 35000 EUR = 10500 EUR, Import duty is 220% of 10500 EUR = 10500x220% = 23100 EUR. Import duty = 23100 EUR. leave it there buy new one in Thailand instead
you can go to website Thai Customs. Type Thai Customs in google and look at the information for importing for individuals , Importing Personal Vehicles.
