Academia? Is that just south of Utopia? :?
The lady is a Thai teaching assistant writing in a foreign language! More power to her elbow for that, and I can't see any reason to discourage her or any other Thai (or any of the many other forum members who don't have English as their mother tongue).
I don't want to take this little spat too far, but unless you speak and write perfect Thai, you're on pretty dodgy ground! :offtopic:

Suffice to say, for you, 'tis a foreign land.

Just a little harmless banter. Judging from the OP's command of the English language, I'm sure she'll know nobody was having a go at her. Perhaps I spent too much time in the UK and offshore, where even the smallest slip can be devastating.......lol. :thumb:

Wow! I didn't know I'd get so many comments.... both kind and not so kind.
Well first of all sorry for the grammar error I guess I'm not perfect after all.
And just so u know I am not a liar, just a girl who has responsibilities and needs to make a living. Is it that wrong that I'm Thai and making 60K per month?
Ok so here u go, the name of the school is Bangkok Patana and no they do not actually pay me 60K a month. In fact they pay me half of that and I earn the rest of them from private tutoring after school Monday to Sunday really and I get around 10K a week if there's no cancellations.
I guess I deserve that 60K for working 7 days a week.... even tho I'm just a Thai TA.

Pennywise, my wife is in the same boat as you, but she doesn't teach, so I agree, you deserve every baht you make. Please don't let the comments of some put you off from visiting the forum, and to be honest, with enough determination, I'm sure you'll be able to earn the same sort of money here. The school my kids attend offers extra classes in the afternoon, which I think costs us two or three hundred baht per month, and as far as I know, although I may be wrong, the teachers get to keep that money. Not a bad deal when you have 20 kids enrolled for extra classes.

So, once again, don't be put off by a few silly comments. If you want the name of the school my daughters go to, please feel welcome to send me a PM.

Thanks for clarifying your situation Pennywise.
Approx 30,000 per month salary is more believable.
Some posters, including myself, wrongly assumed from your original post that you made 60,000 baht from your salary.
So I guess If you're working Sat-Sun then travelling to Hua Hin on the weekends is not an option?

Thanks for the clarification Pennywise, and apologies for perhaps seeming brash and rude. There are alot of people on this forum (including myself) with alot of time on their hands to pick at details and so we often get ourselves into trouble! I would only like to second what others have said by hoping that you don't get put off by a really useful forum. :thumb:

But I'd still be very surprised if she can get anything near 30,000 in Hua Hin. That's what foreign teachers are getting (a few schools in Hua Hin are paying 25,000 to foreigners).

Well I won't being going to Hua Hin... will stay here in Bangkok and cut down my private tutorings on the weekend so that I can drive down there to spend some time with my partner. I guess it would be a GIANT step back if I leave my job here.
