Evening/Weekend Beginner Computer Classes

Post by Noz »

My girlfriend (Thai, 25) is looking to attend some classes in computing with a view to gaining a basic knowledge to aid employment prospects for some office work. She is a complete beginner.

Does anyone know of any options in Hua Hin (in the Thai language), where she could attend for a few hours per week, perhaps an evening or weekend course at a high school?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Don't know what courses are offered but you might try the Hua Hin Business College just North of town on Petchkasem L.H.S. near Hua Hin Hospital

Thanks Terry, I'll check out the business college.

Thanks also Lev. I saw the TLC ad but as far as I'm aware those classes will be in English and I'd imagine largely attended by expats. The preference would be for teaching in Thai.

Any more for any more?

Hi Bapak,
You could try Wang Klai Kang Won School - adult (continuing education) program (The school on the same soi as the palace). My wife has studied many things there and I'm pretty sure they have basic computer classes like Intro to Windows etc. The standard of teaching there is very good and because it's funded by the king, classes cost 1 baht per day. Courses usually run over a certain amount of weeks and attendance is usually mornings or afternoons.

Thanks very much bigideas. That sounds like a great idea and just what we're after. Will check out the school ASAP. Cheers.

My girlfriend started her computer course at Wang Klai Kang Won School yesterday. Day 1 - 8.30am start for registration of ID cards, which couldn't have taken long for half a dozen of them, then the teacher decided to wait until 10am to start because someone was running late. So they got 2 hours instead of 3, and more or less mastered how to switch the machine on and off.

Day 2 today, new teacher, same person running late, same decision to wait for her, so again only 2 hours tuition. This time it consisted of practicing typing from a script into a Word document. Fair enough. At the end of the class, when my girlfriend asked if it would be the same time next weekend, the teacher told her the course was finished and next week it was gardening!

Go figure. Not even sure she got her 1 baht's worth!
