A very convincing 7 - 0 victory to Hua Hin City. A brace a piece for Dorian and Arnon. A hat trick for Amos.

Hua Hin City 2 - 1 Ratchaburi B

On the back of last week's victory, it was important that we beat Ratchaburi today, as they are the team currently occupying the 5th position that we must have our eyes on, which will be a respectable finish after such a poor start to this season.

With the exception of Roland, who is still not back, Hua Hin were back to full strength today.

The first half saw Hua Hin have most of the chances, but unable to convert a chance into a goal. However, Ratchaburi must be kicking themselves for not going into the break a goal up, when they missed the easiest of chances.

Early into the second half, Amos gave Hua Hin the lead after a series of defensive blunders by the opposition. If Hua Hin's defence had done the same, I would have been disgusted. Hua Hin seemed to be cruising to victory when Amos grabbed a second with a lovely goal.

Almost from the kick off, Ratchaburi clawed themselves back into contention with a fantastic goal. That is how the game finished.

Today's win sees Hua Hin climb to 7th place.

All aboard the Nonthaburi Express next Sunday 20th August to see Hua Hin City take on some old favourites in the Nonthaburi team including Wongsawad, Owusu, Yongak etc. Another 'must win' game.

Of course, the supporters bus is provided free of charge thanks to the generosity of the club's President.

Nonthaburi FC 0 - 4 Hua Hin City

Wow!!! The season's biggest win, yet another leading goal score and a very convincing display sees the team rise to 6th. All of this with a very depleted Hua Hin City side. I think this speaks volumes for the new team squad. I don't think there are any weak links - the whole squad are working brilliantly together as a single unit.

The first half was promising, but we simply overran a stunned Nonthaburi team in the 2nd half.

The Nonthaburi side was fielding 3 former favourites from our league winning side:

- Wongsawad, who was our tireless captain for a couple of seasons
- Stephens, who in my opinion is the best centre half we ever had
- Owusu, who is a hard man, and received a 12 month ban after the incident against Prachuap that cause the Prachuap animals to riot/hospitalise the Hua Hin team.

Fortunately, all 3 players were only shadows of their past.

Wuttichai opened the scoring for Hua Hin, quickly followed by Katchatip. As Nonthaburi battled to get back into the game, Arnon took the opportunity to grab a brace for himself to make him the club's leading goalscorer (goals scored wearing a Hua Hin shirt) this season.

This was also Natchapon's 3rd clean sheet of the season.

This result moves us into 6th place (closing in fast on the second half target of 5th).

Next week sees us play our final home game of the season at home to the other 'in form' team - IPE Samut Sakhon. Personally, I don't think they'll be in the same league, and it should be the 4th consecutive victory.

Hua Hin City 1 - 2 IPE Samut Sakhon

Not trying to take anything away from IPE, who won the game fairly and squarely, but this farce had very little to do with football.

The game was dominated by a ferocious rainstorm, which resulted in conditions that would have seen the game postponed or abandoned in the west. All 3 goals were freak events caused more by the weather than good football.

The pitch was under a fair depth of water for most of the contest, and showed how uneven our pitch is. Some areas were under several inches of water, which made passing the ball along the ground impossible. I was secretly hoping a penalty would be awarded at the Northern end in the second half. The penalty spot was well submerged, and the ball would have had to be floated for the kick to be taken. Alas, this didn't happen.

It was actually very dangerous out there and professional footballers could have seen their careers ended in a big splash. Fortunately, there were a lot of big splashes, but I don't think there was any serious injury.

Yesterday's defeat saw us lose our 6th place in the league that we'd fought so hard to achieve.

BTU Utd 4 - 1 Hua Hin City

Even though this was an end of season match with Hua Hin simply playing out the last couple of matches, it was a very important match for BTU. A win would almost certainly mean qualification for the Champions League for our opponents. For Hua Hin, they were playing a very good team, who had achieved the high standard that Hua Hin would have to surpass next season, if they are going to win promotion. This was where we need to be at this stage next season.

Unfortunately, Hua Hin had a few key players on the sick and injured list (not an excuse - a successful squad should have strength in depth). 4 of the u.19 squad would feature in the game. The Hua Hin side was so depleted that they could not fill the subs bench.

BTU were a very fast, well organised side, although, despite the conclusive score line, seemed more intent on conning the referee into awarding them a penalty. The ref didn't fall for any of their theatrical dives, some of which would have made Tom Daley proud. It was exactly the same when we played them 10 weeks ago. I just wonder how many times they have successfully cheated themselves to a goal this season.

The speed and accuracy of the attack was BTU's signature on this match, but credit also has to go to their man mountain of a goalkeeper (I've always admired his goalkeeping skills) - it was only him that prevented Hua Hin scoring what on another day would have been certain strikes. Point blank shots from Amos, and 2 very good efforts by Dorian were cheekily saved with a single hand. His hands were in proportion with the rest of his body - they were like serving trays. This man alone prevented Hua Hin from creating an upset.

Neither team played badly, and both had their share of goalscoring chances. BTU were the better side, but a 3 goal advantage flatters them.

Hua Hin's end of season aim was 5th place, but excellent form by both Ratchaburi and IPE have condemned them to at least a seventh place finish.

It is the last game of Hua Hin City's season next Saturday, when they take on BTU's biggest threat at Assumption. It is still mathematically possible for Assumption to spoil BTU's party next week, and a win is essential. The final test for Hua Hin, before they strengthen the squad and make an all out assault at promotion next season.

Assumption Utd 3 - 1 Hua Hin City

This was a must win game for Assumption against a weak opposition, The Hua Hin City casualty list grows, and in addition to the previous week we were without Dorian and Songkran, Ratchapark was pack to captain the side, but last week's captain, Wongsakorn was also missing. My experience from the UK is the most successful teams are those who suffer least injury, Assumption had to win, and pray for a miracle in the BTU vs Pathum Thani match, which didn't happen.

The match was a damp sqib, with very little to excite the crowd - a typical end of season match.

Hua Hin went behind close to half time when Assumption converted a penalty. Almost immediately afterwards, Hua Hin were awarded a free kick outside of the Assumption penalty area. Leading scorer Arnon stepped up with a free kick that David Beckham would have been proud of. Half time honours were even at 1 - 1.

Second half was much the same, but Assumption broke through the Hua Hin defence twice to secure the points.

There was very little for the supporters to get excited about. If fact Assumption for some strange reason had no support - they were even short of ball boys. One wonders why a team with no support whatsoever even bothers. This match was all about winning a Champions League place - if that doesn't attract support, what will?

So, just for the statisticians, Hua Hin played more games this season, than any previous season. Their 7th place finish was the 3rd best finish in their history.
