Walking Street (Binthabat, Hua Hin) Concert
Walking Street (Binthabat, Hua Hin) Concert
I think, not sure, this poster announces the opening of Hua Hin's very own Walking Street tonight, 26 Aug 16. To commemorate the opening, there will be a concert from 19:00 until 24:00. Somebody please correct me if it's a misinterpretation.
I guess that means no vehicles - I might be a pessimist, but I can't see Thais (and many Farang) regaining the use of their legs, and walking a few extra yards for their beer.
Long overdue IMHO. It's not a Soi I frequent very often, but I've seen a more than the average number of accidents down there.

Introducing a Pedestrian only area in Bintablock is long overdue and would make this a more attractive and safer area to visit and spend time in - but...you all know the but's..
would that be walking for westerners only?

Re: Walking Street (Binthabat, Hua Hin) Concert
I am willing to walk some 20 to 50 m. as long as I can park my motobike in the area. This will create a real shit in adjacent sois.
I don't see anything about a concert. The poster says they're organising a walking street in Soi Bintabat. The soi will be closed from 19:00 until midnight. Starting from Friday 26 August 2559, and thereafter. The implication is that it's every night, but who knows? I guess there might be a celebration of some sort. Maybe the mayor and several other notables will be there to make speeches. Can't really see a ban on motorbikes being enforced for very long.

There is a show/concert tonight to kick the walking street off.
Whilst the vehicle ban includes motorcycles I agree that by 11pm you will see no difference and the motorcycle riders will simply ignore the rules as normal.

will they allow food-carts?

^ only of the pushers are on foot...
I think the area would benefit by making Binthabat and all those similar small sois around it a walking area in the evenings, but to successfully do that they would have to build a parking garage on the edge of the area.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I would say tonight was a great success. It's the busiest the Bitabaht has been since the past high season (such as it was) the punters entered into the sprit of things and everybody seemed to be having a good time. Obviously 2 for the price of 1 would not be sustainable in the long term but hats off to the bar owners for thinking outside the box.

Totally agree with hhfarangs comment about the parking. I think I got the last space in the temple.

I walked through Walking Street on Sunday 9 p.m. and expected a big crowd. But I was the only man walking in this street. The bars had many bargirls but nearly no customers. Where are the tourists?

That's where most people will disagree with you - if you want walking street Pattaya (catch the soon to be launched fast speed ferry service) and go there, Hua Hin doesn't need it.europtimiste wrote:Will unfortunately never be like Pattaya walking street.
